So do we know who the woman on High Charity is? I'm so lost with none of this having anything to do with anything already established.

So, the previews for paramount plus highlighting all their content has everyone humming the Halo theme. So naturally I fire up the show and the opening intro is something completely different

Show is bad and the template was so easy. Master Chief kick butt and print money.....Nope, let's have him talk to a 12 yr old for 60 minutes

Jesus Christ I just finished episode 2 and that was the biggest steaming pile of shite I've ever watched.

It is 100% fact. I half-listened to the cut scenes just to extract anything germane for the mission the first time they played, after that I skipped them every time for the entire 20 years. I never gave any thought to piecing together a coherent understanding of the storyline. If you ask me if 343 Guilty Spark was friend or foe I would be at a loss. He wanted to blow shite up, laughed at me a lot, mocked my defenses against the flood, and made me ride elevators but outside of that I honestly don't know how he fits into the overall narrative outside of being the monitor of the installation and being built by the Forerunners but I honestly couldn't define to you who they are.
I am just a grunt by nature, point me in the direction of the enemy and I will kill until I can't kill anymore. Maybe that is one reason I still like CE more than any other title, clean, linear and just plain fun.

I don’t have Paramount + and I got to watch the first episode on YouTube. It was pretty good. Master Chief (and the Spartans) looked cool. Played by Liev Schreibers brother, Pablo.
I knew nothing about Halo. I never played the games. I guess I was more story/campaign kind of gamer (like Resident Evil), not a see-alien/shoot alien Doom style gaming. But I was looking forward to seeing if this tv storyline followed the games or was it all new. Apparently from this thread, it’s Halo in name only. Still, the first episode was good tv and sort of informative for a Halo newbie like me about the main protagonists/antagonists of this world.
But everybody that has seen episode 2 has said it is absolute dog-shite, so it looks like I won’t be renting or buying season one on Amazon, so thanks for the heads up.

Didn’t realize the CW is half owned by Paramount. I guess that would explain the CW feel of the show

I mean it a not dogshit. It's getting shite on more than anything because people had expectations that it would be the characters from the books and games in the universe from the books and games telling a story that we hadn't heard yet but still fits in established Canon.
It's the same character art and costume design and names in the same universe, but the similarities end there.
I wouldn't pay extra for just it, but it's not the worst thing I have seen on TV

It really isn't "Halo" or "Master Chief" other than name of character and show. If you can get past that you are good.

I don’t think it’s getting shite on because of extra characters or a different story. It’s because the master chief has had his helmet off for 18/120 minutes.

I wouldn't have made Keyes and Miranda black, but again, not a deal breaker.
However...if I was dropping $10 million an episode to make a show about Halo, well I don't know about y'all but I'd KISS and keep it as faithful to the games as possible. It's not a mindless FPS series like Doom or Duke Nukem, there's more than enough lore and everything for a series even if you just stuck to the main games.

I don’t care about the helmet being off, what I meant is that 18/120 minutes have been devoid of action and MC taking on the covenant.
I understand it can’t be 60 minutes of FPS action, but 2/3 of an episode and an entire episode that were political is just not what the faithful or mildly curious were wanting.

That's disappointing to hear. I'll decide for myself, but looks like I might be able to escape P+ after only the 7 day trial.
At least I got 3 eps of Halo, Wrath of Man, and a re-watch of Pulp Fiction out of it.
ETA: I didn't think this episode was that bad. Sure, there's no Chief killing Covenant, but it introduced Cortana and moved the plot forward.
This show was never going to be 10 episodes of just Master Chief rolling into the Mausoleum of the Arbiter with a SPANKR and an energy sword, set to a Breaking Benjamin score.
It's less than I hoped for so far, but P+ lives to fight another day.

I thought this one was “better” than episode 2 but just in a moving the plot along.
Paramount+ has made a grave mistake if they think that the fanbase wants to see MC explore his feelings instead of killing covenant.
I’ll give it another episode but I’m out if there’s another one like this.
