The Dark Knight is really only a highly enjoyable movie because of Heath Ledger's performance. Maybe that counts.

Hugh Jackman Origins Wolverine
Superhero movies have a lot of examples.
I feel like Gene Hackman belongs somewhere on this list. The guy always gave a great performance, and he was in a ton of movies so maybe The Firm? It wasn't really bad though. Maybe one of the Superman sequels.
