GoT v Breaking Bad - Which had more hype going into the final stretch?

The expectations are through the roof for this final season of Game of thrones. Between predictions, theories, critique, etc., the ONLY comparison I could come up with was Breaking Bad break between seasons 5a & 5b.
Recency bias says Game of Thrones, but I think I am underestimating how big the following was for Breaking Bad at the time.
Is there another show, besides BB, that comes to mind?

Thrones is a world renowned show.
Easily Thrones.
Easily Thrones.

Easily GOT.
As for your other question, Lost comes to mind, but it lost some steam by dragging a little bit towards the end.

Is anything more overrated than Breaking Bad here?

I don’t know if BB ever even got 10 million viewers an episode.
Thread is ridiculous

Hype is GoT but it's not deserved in relation to Breaking Bad.
Breaking got better as the seasons went on but GoT is like... Meh since Season 6.

Extremely unpopular opinion but The Wire.

Is this a real question? GOT and it’s not close....at all

Breaking Bad theories took over this board at one point but even that was nothing compared to the GOT following we have now
There were some good arguments over what the titles of unaired episodes meant to the BB story-line

The Sopranos was pretty big. Cheers. friends. Seinfeld. Breaking Bad felt bigger to me than GOT but I’m sure if you quantify it by popular culture buzz it’s probably GOT.

GoT is the largest global television event in the history of television.

GOT, by a ridiculous amount.
The HBO viewership (not including online streaming) was 17.4 million for the season premiere. That's only in the US (worldwide numbers have lots of different calculation methods but the smart money right now is at least 100M).
To give a bit of perspective on how big streaming is, the season 7 AVERAGED around 32M per episode after streaming was taken into account.
Breaking Bad was good and had a lot of viewers but it's not even close to the draw GOT has.

GOT may have more viewers, but Breaking Bad is a better overall show.
Bitch.
Bitch.

Jesus Christ.
Those numbers are absolutely absurd.
I remember being at tailgates, of all places, and EVERYONE couldn't wait to share their crackpot breaking bad theory.
Same thing happened today at work. GoT is a fricking movement right now.
If GoT is #1 in this regard. You've got to put Breaking Bad at the 2. Have to. I never saw lost, but I remember how big that was too. So maybe there's an argument there.

Game of Thrones literally has no rival.

I liked Breaking Bad better. I love game of thrones but Breaking Bad was more than just a show to me.
