No one has mentioned the 3-4 guys that are also coming out of the gate at Eastwatch with the other 7 "Main" characters. They appeared to be pulling something with ropes. I am assuming 2-3 of these guys don't make it back plus maybe Beric and Thoros. I know there is no such thing as plot armor in GOT but there is practical writing. Like many said, I don't get the point of bringing back Gendry or Jorah just to have them killed this episode.

Accusing another of an alter.
Worked out real well for you with Carson.
You fricking count.

The only ones I think have enough plot armor to guarantee their survival are Jon and the Hound. The rest are up in the air.

There aren't many good reasons to give us 2 short seasons vs. 2 full seasons. I would guess the problem might be that they've run out of source material since GRRM is so far behind on the books and they don't want to stray too far from the outline.
The issue is that it's taking way too long to make 10 episode seasons. It took the over a year to make just seven episodes, and the actors have made it clear that less episodes certainly did not mean less filming. They're even discussing the possibility of not getting the remaining 6 episodes out until 2019. I know people want to see 10 episodes and have everything spelled out for them, but if that's how they were going to do it, you probably wouldn't see the final episode until 2020, and they probably wouldn't have even finished making season 7 yet.

It's not an away team without any redshirts.
I kept trying to count. Does anyone know if Jon has a total of 12 "companions" with him?

He seems to have a nearly psychic connection with Dany. Like he can sense her moods and attitudes.
Agreed. Dany is every bit as close to Drogon as the Starks are to their Direwolves.

That was one of the cooler moments of the episode. Drogon looked huge in the background and then he showed he's not just a dumb beast.
Just intimidating as hell:

I've been thinking about Jon's last line to Dany. It was the same as Arthur Dayne and Mance's final words. I wonder where that comes from, or if it's just a casual expression amongst warriors?

I know in the books Jon considers Ghost as being a part of him. I feel like he should understand Dany's connection to Drogon more than most.

You mean the "I wish you good fortune in the wars to come" line?
I would assume it's a fairly common saying between soldiers during war time.

Thoros and Beric still have a "guarantee" because of the whole "I don't know my purpose yet" ordeal.

They must have spent a huge amount of money on all the dragon effects. Maybe that is why the season is shorter.

I took it as some randoms from eastwatch tasked with hauling the cage to catch a wight in.

True. Fair enough, but we've only heard it twice. It just seemed more significant than a casual "good luck".

It's moments like this that I wish we had the books perspective first.
When Jon and Drogon made eye contact, did he feel a connection similar to what he feels with Ghost? Is that why it looked like he almost had tears in his eyes?
An internal monologue in a Jon POV chapter would have been very interesting for that moment.
On a related note, have we already discussed the fact that Dany named the other two dragons after her brothers and that means Reaghal was named after Jon's father?
Will there be a special bond there?

Anybody think there is some hidden meaning to "The Seven"? Like the seven gods and each guy represents one of them. I don't know why but that was the first thing that popped in my head during that final scene.
Sansa fricking sucks. I can't stand her character now. Arya' s face is so puffy now it's kind of distracting.
Where do you think Sam is headed? I'm thinking Winterfell but not sure.
The scene in the preview with a Beric lighting the sword gave me wood. Looked cool as shite.
Death prediction. Beric, Thoros, and Jorah. One kicker is Zombie Jorah is the wight they bring back.

I doubt it, he said " i am the king in the north" and his speech before leaving for the wall kind of confirms he didn't in my mind at least

I wondered the same thing.
Saw this on another site with the title "Gendry needs to level up!":
