No shite. If they were surrounded, how much smoke do they need to see before they go in and get that shite taken care of?

i suppose if they burned it from within and used that as a diversion to get the attention from the troops, they could have gotten out. but they knew how to get in 2 ways: (1) the main gate and (2) grappling hooks

Nothing I said couldn't be deduced by having watched the show if you're paying attention. It's not like I revealed an actual plot development.

Okay cool. But either way that's not what this thread is for. Congrats on reading the books.

i still don't get what the frick happened at winterfell. i need to ask a literate

This has nothing to do with my reading of the books as it goes down differently there, but what I think happened is:

We see Robb telling Roose Bolton to tell his Bastard son that any of the ironborn can go home except for Theon himself, and Roose says he's sure that they'll turn on him for that offer.

So most likely they turned Theon in to Bolton's son for the ability to leave.

Luwin mentioned to Osha that she may have to defend Bran and Rickon from their own, so maybe the invaders burned Winterfell. Or possibly the Ironborn burned it down. We'll find out next season I suppose.

Possibly left to chase Theon and his men. Personally, I don't think they gave Theon up. It wouldn't go over well back at home.

The Iron Islanders yielded. Based upon honor they were allowed to go home. Atleast that is my guess. Theon was the bad man and he is gone.

Maybe... Because you never know. And I don't know.

Doesn't matter I guess. Still an awesome hour of television. Based upon Robb's directive they are free.

I got a little hung up on FFC but I've been zooming through DWD. Every once in a while I will check how many pages I have left and get a little sad.

I just rewatched the scene, he definitely says "Your own kind" to Osha (ie the shady forest people), and she responds about not really having any lost love for her own kind anyway. I really have no idea where they're going though, and why the wouldn't simply meet up with Robb's men.

I figured that Theon's people knew a way out and were simply dragging him back home as opposed to fighting to the certain death.

I thought the House of the Dead scenes were very well done and that the book readers are just being bitches about it. Literates gonna litter... Daeny back into badass/entertaining mode, the dragons tearing shite up, locking the black fella and his woman into his empty vault...

And while not as badass as the ending to S1 with Daeny naked and the reveal that dragons are legit, the zombie folk were an impressive ending.

Biggest questions are, where are the zombies headed (the wall or the northern king), what is Tyrion going to do (major scheming will be difficult with no power and a death warrant), and will the people Daeny meets up with when she reaches Westeros be interested in helping her?
