Like a GOT "Middle Ground" Offseason thread?

Psych linked last year's middle ground thread yesterday, it ran pretty much through mid August, by then most of the Davos graduated to the crackpot thread.

So it's like a bridge from ignorance to full knowledge? Like college, except ASOIAF?

I'm cool with it.

yeah we're moving on to bigger and better things and people like KASH and Cokes are working at burger joints

figuratively of course in reference to ASOIAF

I have another question for this thread, regarding the Wall.

So Stannis sailed around it (I'm assuming)...does the Night's Watch have any sort of guard set up at the coast(s) of the continent where the Wall hits the coast? Of course, I am assuming that the Wall does eventaully meet the coast...feel free to correct that if need be (unless it is important later, then you can just tell me that it is and I won't need an answer yet).

Thanks.

Just a guess, but it would be impossible to protect the entire coastline past the wall. I believe there is a port or something at the wall and the coast, though.

they said many of the castles are abandoned now due to lack of men. id imagine that one is low priority with the giant arse wall on all side and the sea on the other. it would be very difficult to attack from. also wildlings dont strike me as the sailing type

In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, the Wall is about 700 feet tall and is defended by three manned castles, the Shadow Tower at the far western end, Eastwatch-by-the-Sea in the far east and Castle Black in the middle, where the Kingsroad meets the Wall. The top is wide enough for a dozen mounted knights to ride abreast and it is thicker at the base. Castle Black is the Watch's headquarters and primary redoubt. Sixteen additional castles stretch along the base of the Wall, but these are no longer permanently manned due to the Watch's lack of manpower.

Stannis sailed to eastwatch. He met up with the Lord commander of eastwatch, Cotter pyke. Cotter then guided Stannis' army to the wildlings base camp.

The other side of the Wall the west side ends at a river (which leads into the ocean/sea) I believe the Night's Watch set up a Twins type fortress situation. The Shadow Tower had a big battle with the wildings.

In the show Rickon was brought to The Last Hearth/House Umber for protection, right?

Yep..guided by Osha and Shaggydog, the most dangerous and wild of the dire wolves.

I guess that's different in the books, neat.

This actually leaves Cersei in charge - which was LF's plan all along.

But.. Westeros with the exception of Dorne is paternal lineage. So a male would be over Cersei.
