Whoever wins the North (Boltons/Stannis) would still have to pass the Twins before they could get close to King's Landing, neither would presently have the strength to do so.

Could be wrong but it seems like Cersei's attitude toward Dorne is caused by the fact that they are the biggest potential threat and also have a history of not being truly subjugated to the Iron Throne and more independent.

I wouldn't say that Dorne is the biggest Lannister enemy. She has two just two the north in and near Winterfell.

The Lannister name goes further than Cercei. The Martells HATE the lannisters ever since Roberts rebellion, probably close to as much as the Starks do (you can argue that they don't really count at this point)

And there is a difference between a family enemy and a threat to the throne

Cersei's attitude towards Dorne is based on the fact that her daughter is there and a threat has been made against her.

Also the whole Oberyn-Tywin theory is fair game in here right? Since they're both dead?

Cersei probably also wants to secure the oil reserves and poppy fields they have. Which is why she supposedly fabricated the evidence that Dorne has WMDs buried under the sand.

Never mind that Dorne has previously used such weapons on its own people.

I thought the attitude pre-dated the threat or her daughter being there.

Keep in mind that a member of the ruling Dornish family just let it be publically known that they view the Lannisters as being responsible for the rape & death of Elia Martell and her children.

A maester can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe, and cersei doesn't know this, Doran admits in the books that Dorne isn't the strength it is made out to be. A lot of Dorne hype was fabricated generations earlier by a Targ and the Martell's just never saw reason to correct it.

I think..

Yes, they aren't big enough to be a threat to the crown, loosely based on the Roman version of Hannibal.

I believe it already has in this thread.

Well, I always thought more of his capabilities than this quote suggests. Tywin was doing quite well for himself, up until Tyrion shot him. Maybe Doran used mind control to make Tyrion do that...

Tyrion sent Marcella out there in the second season, I dont recall much from Cersei about Dorne before that. People from KL look down on people from Dorne in general because they don't really follow the same morals and such as the people from KL.

As previously mentioned, it's very widely believed that Oberyn had poisoned Tywin Lannister upon his arrival in KL

The poison basically constipated you to death, and it explains why Tywin was on the shitter for so long when Tyrion shot him

Doran wants revenge, not war. This is how they do business

When would Oberyn have done this or is this strictly from the book.
