Good point, the show has been quite ambiguous about what happened during the sack of Winterfell. We don't know if what the bastard has done is with his father's blessing/knowledge.

Yeah, I don't get the love for that cocksucker. He comes in on a sneak attack after everyone is beat down and dead with Blackwater, he lies to the Mad King and sacks whatever village that was

I think that the viewers should be able to figure this out. I remember back in the LOST days, we would have picked something like that up in a heartbeat. I'd say it at least makes it easy to figure out what house has him, even if you don't know the Bastard has him.
