GoT: House of the Dragon Season 3 Official Thread [NO BOOK SPOILERS]

Since the other thread has book spoilers, creating this thread for people who haven't read them, but have seen the TV episodes
Ep 1 dropped last night at 8 pm on Max
Lots of good action and happenings, but character development to make you care about the stakes is still lacking.

read the book but won't comment about them...
Overall I thought last nights episode was great and arguably the best of the entire series so far.
I'm thinking it might get better character development this season now that characters are dwindling down and you have the same actors/actresses for numerous seasons now. The time jump killed off character development you had early on.
Seems like most are on the fence about him but Aemond (eye patch) is one of the best characters for me. Him kissing his Mom was odd but I was like well I'm not going to fast forward if things keep going

It's very difficult for me to care about any of these characters. When Jace (had to look up his name just now) died in last night's episode I felt absolutely nothing. All he did during the second season was whine about being kept in the castle and argue with his mother on matters of grand strategy.

I guess the best way to describe it would that it feels like season 8 of GOT, but without the 7 seasons of buildup and development. Plus the whole unlikable character issue. There was a pretty clear delineation of good and bad in GOT.

I don't remember their names but I am wondering if we are going to get some good dialogue by the 2 guy's travelling. The burnt guy and the guy with the messed up foot.
Wishful thinking but maybe a bit like the Spider and Tyrion? I doubt it reaches that level but I feel like those two could form an interesting bond.

The “burnt guy” is King Aegon II. Who just abdicated his throne to his brother Aemond (eye patch) by sneaking out of the Red Keep. Larys Strong (Lord Clubfoot) is his whisperer (yes, like Varys/the Spider was in Game of Thrones).
And I imagine dialogue gonna be a little tense given Larys just sold Aegon out to the Blacks (Rhaenyra). But he was obviously trying to prevent them from having their heads chopped off.

The woman pirate in this show is insufferable. Every scene is poison in my eyes and ears.

Yeah was glad to see her go. The best part of the episode was ol sheepstealer. If there was ever such thing as hood rat dragon, it would be him. Ol boy was giving everyone the smoke.

Watched a 30 minute recap and then 30 minutes of the new episode
I had to turn it off. I give zero fricks about any character. They are who they were when they were introduced to us and I feel like I am watching an expense piece of paint dry
This black chick chasing the dragon is ridiculous. We all know she’s going to succeed and wreck shite after. WTF is up with her wig, anyway?

Damn. I thought the episode was awesome. Yes they have struggled with character development and they ruined Daemon in s2. But i do feel for Alicent as her life has gone completely sideways just trying to do the right thing. And I was very happy to see the tranny and Jace go down. Both characters were hard to watch on screen.
It's become so maddening in this show how no one will listen to what they're told to do. But I actually find it very refreshing in a show like this where cell phones don't exist. It should be difficult to communicate and messages should arrive a bit late.
Jace wouldn't listen to rhaenyra and look where it got him. Rhaena didn't stay where she's told and she burnt up the wrong people. The 3 bastards didn't stay where they were told and now Vhagar is gonna frick up Daemon and his army. And all of this is happening bc Rhaenyra continues to think her friendship with Alicent will find a way to end this war with minimal death over multiple seasons. I love how they've done all of that. Rhaenyra is going to have to go absolutely ape shite on her council. And Ulf is gonna leave to see if Aemond will offer him a castle?
Now I'm left wondering if the Hightowers will listen to their "king" and camp out for a few days. Seemed like maybe Alicent left some indication that the message came from her rather than Aemond? Maybe some green ink or something?
And what's Larys up to? He had to know they'd get discovered when traveling through a war zone. He must have a plan. Maybe try to worm his way into Rhaenyras group?

One of the worst actresses I think I have ever seen. It was cringe level 1000. Who watches the playback and thinks, we got a winner here!
