I've obviously been pretty critical of GRRM for a long time now but man it's pretty easy to see why he walked away from this show.
Very random Nettles mention in the episode as well. When Daemon is talking to Jeyne she mentions Rhaena has been out living with the sheep and nettles. I had to pause and rewind it to make sure that's what I was hearing. Sorry if that's already been discussed, I haven't read the thread.

I caught it and then wondered what the point of that mention is.
Then I came to the conclusion that, like everything else in the show, it was just the writer trying to be clever and failing.
Have they said how many seasons there will be? There's some pretty important events coming up that are significant to the story. So do we end this season with First Tumbleton? Seems most likely. I thought we'd have this by mid-season. I thought we'd end this season above the God's Eye, but can understand the writer's wanting to make sure those characters are in the next season. If we are going all the way from First Tumbleton to Aegon's death in only one more season, they are going to have to cut out all the bullshite and have huge episode's every week.

You put a handful of regular fans of the books in a room and ask them to story board this period of time over four seasons and you would get a ten times better result than what the “professionals” have accomplished with this.
You would have red wedding level water cooler stuff being talked about each season.

These people have turned what should be a very serious, dark world into a nerfed, shitty network TV version of itself. Everything has a lighthearted feel to it that is really off-putting and takes the viewer out of the story.

Then concurrently with the next seasons, have the kid playing Egg serve as a narrator like he’s telling Dunk these stories about the Dance to set off this series.
Then they could have stuck with the main plot points and highlights from the book, which solves a lot of problems because these writers are incapable of filling in the gaps.
That also would have allowed for a seamless progression through the redfyre rebellion, which could have coincided with season three of Dunk and Egg.

No but its a very poor adaptation of the history books. I get they are second hand but the picture that is painted in the books is FAR better than the shite they have put out as "the real story" in this show. Everyone is weak and dumb outside of maybe Aegon and Ormund. Every bad arse tactical move from the books has been castrated as some sort of mistake or misunderstanding. Daemon and Aemond have been completely crippled as characters. And the dragons aren't even following the cannon rules of how dragons are supposed to act (Vhaegar abandoning Aemond as an example). Aegon burning that army is the first time a main character made a purposeful ruthless decision to further their chances of winning the crown in who knows how long.
I enjoy this world but this is an objectively bad show that is existing purely on a built in fanbase and their love of dragons. Dialogue is awful and the logic of a ton of the decisions make no sense.

He’s the king of handing off his shows for someone else to write then complaining when it isn’t how he wants it done.
His excuse for stopping his writing of GoT episodes was because he wanted to focus on WoW. Years ago. Pick a medium at this point.

Trying to blame GRRM for this show sucking is weak. At the end of the day, it's these showrunners who have flexed on George and said they were doing their own thing, and they had the power to do it. It's not as if he could have stayed and made it better. They'd stopped listening to him. That's why he left.

Meh. He personally hand picked Condal himself. And given how messy GRRM can be (and not just ASOIAF) I’d be surprised if there isn’t more to it.
Especially when Condal originally pitched the Dunk and Egg series and recommended Ira Parker.

These writers are a joke and it's all on Condal. He wanted total control with little to no advice from George, and he hired these idiots personally. No reasonable person could expect they'd suck this bad. And again, when they listen to George, the show is good. When they don't, it's not.

He was the primary that pitched it to HBO. With GRRM's blessing. Because he's been friends with GRRM for several years.

Literally the past 3-4 episodes have almost been the exact same episode. Boring shite. I actually enjoyed the GOT episodes with no battles. At least that had interesting drama and great writing (at times). This is pure shite. I turned to my wife and we both said this is boring as hell

I read the book prior to the second season. With modern TV being years between seasons it has been a couple of years now. I watched the first episode of season 3 and thought-wait am I crazy? This isn’t how it happened. I pulled out the book and it was exactly how I remembered it. From there on I haven’t “hate watched” it but I’m watching essentially out of basically obligation to finish a series that at one point (season 1) was good enough to make me read what amounts to an interesting history book.
