Just finished. Pretty predictable. Not near as good as the first.

Rian Johnson should throw in the towel with Star Wars and do more Knives Out movies.

Spoilers

Evil white man steals everything from POC woman, other evil whites and guilt ridden minority side with awful white man as the only way to get ahead.

Courageous gay man and other poc take down evil cis white

End Spoilers

I actually like Rian Johnson. I don’t like tLJ but I like his other work a lot. But the dude just cannot help himself. Over the top political nonsense.

Also HUGE mistake incorporating Covid into it. Peak Hollywood bubble thinking. It’s already wildly outdated and literally no one gives a frick about it.

Posts like these are clear examples of what happens when you put yourself in a bubble and think everyone is out to get your or your “team”

1st one was better but this was still a fun watch.

Spoilers kinda.

Where did y'all think the envelope was hidden ?

I thought the napkin was taken out and it was put in the back of the Mona Lisa. Kinda like an ego thing since he had that switch installed.

I really didn’t get wokeism vibes from this movie. If anything, it was a roast of technocracy cult of personality and the sycophants that follow them.

Another accent thunder dome matchup

Craigs Foghorn leghorn vs Janelle Monae and the “Alabama “ accent . That was painful. It was a caricature of what someone thinks Alabama sounds like to me

Pretty sure both are intentionally bad

The Craig one certainly is. These are basically elevated spoof movies. Like scary movie with a 200 million dollar budget

I think he added the Alabama one, just to continue that whole troll, given how much talk there was about it in the first one

It didn't have to. Do honestly think there was any chance at all of them switching the casting of Janelle Monae and Edward Norton? They got their white mail villain who is actually stupid (why did they bring this up when he had a pretty good plan?) and only succeeded by stealing the idea of the capable black woman that she wrote on a napkin? We know who made this movie and their history. The notion that this plot did not represent the woke status quo is laughable. It was still good movie. Johnson is the new Agatha Christie. I wonder if he would give one of those books a shot rather than what Branagh is doing to them now.

The open makes you think it’s about to be a heavily pandemic influenced movie - that is probably enough to get the “woke” tag thrown on it these days by the people who are looking for that stuff, even though they immediately dispatched that out of the plot for the most part.

That scene with the mouth spray gun felt like him saying to the audience “just kidding, we are going to unshackle this movie from that whole thing and just have fun. You’re good”

Or was it a response to those who would complain about the lack of masks? I have seen people by themselves in cars w/ masks. The crazy mask mindset exists.

Covid was in the movie for roughly 2 minutes and I felt like it was more to set the time period than say any type of statement about the pandemic.

I really enjoyed the movie up until the end. The actual murder was weak ( which was said in the movie ) and how they exposed the bad guy in the end just felt a bit anticlimactic.

Or maybe your gullibility in believing the man who brought us The Last Jedi is going to make a movie without any white male bashing.
