As cartoons...
Thundercats- Great animation with a clear and direct continuity. The seasons had arcs, and the stories were not a collection of one offs like most shows tried to pass off.
Gi Joe the sunbow series had great animation and some awesome plots. I won't comment on the DiC series which blew.
Voltron every episode was the same. Prince Lotar made a robeast. The lions defeat it. The Robeast morphs into a giant, the lions turn into Voltron and defeat the mega robeast.
He-man even as a kid i hated that He-man never hit anyone or used his sword against other characters. I hated that they reused the same animation cells. The villains were great, but the heroes were lame.
As toy lines
He-man toy line was cool from begining to end. Lots of interesting characters, vehicles, and playsets.
GI Joe this would be number one, but there were some really lame figures like Raptor and Crystal Ball, then the line went to crap at the tail end with the neon figures and endless stupid ninjas.
Thundercats was really an awesome toylinee, but fairly small so not as much to it. Plus no mini comics.
Voltron the Voltron toy was awesome, and the Matchbox version that the figures could ride in was really great. What sucked is there was nothing for Voltron to fight. There were no robeasts in the same scale.

The rest were ok, I would rather play with my Stompers
Holy cow, I had forgotten about these. Just about everyone in my extended family had one, including my uncles. I had the off road track and a cousin had the pulling rig.
We'd have tuck pulls at get togethers.

Voltron
GI Joe
He-Man
Thundercats
Toy wise I used to love He-man. This list should have really included Transformers though..

This show is legit. Entertaining as hell. The Hello Kitty episode opens with the Hello Kitty vibrator!!
That being said, Transformer Gen 1 obviously #1.
Although Cheetara is hot. MASK is an underrated classic also love the He-man knockoffs, Sectaurs, Warriors of Symbion

Anyone who downvoted this must have been too young to wonder what Cheetara's boobies looked like under that leotard when the show was on.

As toy lines
I loved the GI Joe, Transformers and He-Man early to mid-80's toy lines. On a side note, I came across this commercial on Youtube a while back. Now, I was completely out of the toy collecting game by 1989, so this line of He-Man figures was unknown to me completely. This looks really bad.
