Is this a preview for a video game?

Far Cry 6: World Premiere Trailer on YouTube

Giancarlo Esposito is El Presidente in it.

Doom at his best is, simply put, arguably (maybe not so) the best villain in ALL of comics. Yet sometimes not a villain at all, choosing to help for the greater good with his own motives in mind while remaining a benevolent dictator.

It's a bold statement, but one I can't disagree with. He's the GOAT comic villain in the way he presents himself, and the way he acts within the universe.

As crazy as the God-emperor story was, it made so much sense for Doom.

ETA: id like to see him as a character that hasn’t already had an iconic performance so recently.

How about a character that's supposedly the primary antagonist for Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3: The High Evolutionary?

They're eventually going to have to change the Holocaust story on Magneto's background. Wouldn't mind him being from some African genocide

Magneto is likely going to be a person of color from all rumors. The holocaust is too far in the past at this point. Its going to have to be a different horrific event/genocide. Rawanda, etc.

Or they just explain that his mutated Xgene slows the aging process

Or a sleeper cell Nazi faction continued without Steve Rogers around and he was put in an underground(figuratively) concentration camp.

You don’t take Jewish characters away (created by Jewish Stan Lee).

It’s anti-Semitic, unless they go with the Farrakhan rhetoric.

There are plenty of black X-Men and the Jewish one gets remade?
Nah.

By all accounts, that is exactly what they are going to do.

Stan Lee was alive for X-Men the Animated Series, so I don’t think he had the biggest problem with it.

BTW, Esposito was born in Copenhagen, thirteen years after the German occupation. He grew up speaking Danish and German.

You can be born in Japan to American parents and speak Japanese, that doesn't make you Japanese.

Most if not all classic characters are going to be made "more diverse" by Disney. They have stated this very plainly. From Marvel to Little Mermaid to Star Wars, everything must be remade to fit the new narrative.

Don't let them con you when they say they are trying to be inclusive for altruistic reasons. These changes are driven by money as the assumption is that the worldwide market is now the critical driver and the world wants more POC and less white people in their entertainment.

They don't particularly care if these changes make any sense story wise, or if they upset some people. They are happening regardless.

As for me, I think this is the wrong approach. They should make new stories like they did with Black Panther and Princess and the Frog (which were both successful) rather than clumsily changing the look/history of a long established character.

The path Disney is taking is more likely to alienate more fans than it creates.

Which is more popular: an original Black Panther character or the alternate version of spider-man?

Nobody wants their hero to be a knock off version. They want something original they can celebrate.

You're right. The next Magneto should be a 90 year old German Jew. Have fun at the movies.

Ian McKellen is British.

Michael Fassbender is half Irish.

Neither of them are Jewish.

He was so great in the Fox fims. I hope he does more with either Marvel or DC.

I will be shocked if Marvel can line up as many A listers for the second big run of this thing. If they do, it'd be pretty impressive.

Magneto is supposed to be a Jewish German though.

It’s a cool background element, but it becomes increasingly more difficult to make him a holocaust survivor as we go forward.

You can always argue mutants age differently, but that’s a bit of a can of worms.

Personally, idk how you introduce even a middles aged mutant into the MCU without answering where they were for the past decade?

Marvel has done a good job explaining why new characters whereby talked about before.

Jewish creators Jack Kirby and Stan Lee didn't make Magneto Jewish. Jew Chris Claremont did.

Where was your disgust when Kitty Pride showed up in the movies and they didn't make note of her Jewishness? Why didn't she and Magneto interact as Jews as they did in the comics?

Quit trying to make it anti semitic. Kirby and Lee didn't see the need to make their character Jewish. Not sure why it's now carved in stone.

My disgust was in the entire two awful films Ellen Page was in, clown.

They didn’t interact much because she’s not an important enough character in either film.

It’s was never explicitly said that Kitty wasn’t Jewish. Casting a black man as German Holocaust survivor is anti-Semitic. Full stop.

You want to make Superman black? Cool, logically explained.

Spider-Man? No need, his sidekick is black.

Captain America? Passable but not totally believable.

Batman? Nope.

Magneto? El oh el.

Some of these characters are supposed to be “white” and that’s okay.
