Giancarlo Esposito Wants To Work With Marvel Studios & Says MCU “Likely” The Next Step

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Esposito was asked about his future and if the Marvel Studios rumors that keep popping up have any validity. Instead of playing coy, which seems to be the MO for many actors when it comes to potential superhero projects, the actor was very forthcoming about his desire to appear in something at Marvel.
“Well, there’s been all these rumors about being with Marvel, I want to work with those guys,” he revealed. “I put it out there all the time. I haven’t created any of those rumors, but I worked years ago with Louis D’Esposito, who’s one of the guys at Marvel, back when he was doing ‘Cotton Club,’ and I was ‘doing Cotton Club,’ he was the First AD.”
He added, “What they do is fantastic, and I want to do something enduring with them…I think the Marvel world would be, likely, the next step for me.”
Now, the interesting part to this quote has to be the use of the word “enduring.” It appears that Esposito doesn’t want to just show up in a small, supporting role in the future. Or even as a villain in a film. The actor would like to have a role that lasts a bit longer than what we see with folks like Kurt Russell, Cate Blanchett, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Maybe its just me, and sometimes actors get typecast, but I cannot see him as Professor X at ALL.
I can only see him as Magneto.

Magneto is likely going to be a person of color from all rumors.
The holocaust is too far in the past at this point. Its going to have to be a different horrific event/genocide. Rawanda, etc.

His demeanor makes him such a good villain. It’d be interesting to see him play a charismatic hero. I bet he could pull it off quite well.

People get mad over it, but it's true. I'm a huge Magneto homer, but his origin isn't going to hold up in 2020.
Regardless of if he is black or white he will need a new storyline.
Kind of in the new mold of Marvels Spider Man films.

He will be Magneto. He will just have a different background and back story.
I usually get annoyed by these things but this is a completely necessary change. There's really no avoiding it.
