The holocaust is too far in the past at this point. Its going to have to be a different horrific event/genocide. Rawanda, etc.

I could see him as an ex General with a mysterious past in Pinochet’s Chile.

I still think it would work better if he was a Rhodesian War Orphan adopted by Charles Xavier.

Sam Wilson has been Captain America before.

This is true, and people will accept him as Cap. The way it happened and how they handled that is part of the reason.

But no one will ever hear the words "Captain America" and think of Sam Wilson first.

Personally, idk how you introduce even a middles aged mutant into the MCU without answering where they were for the past decade?

I think "the snap" gives them a number of really easy options for how to explain this.

Stan Lee was alive for X-Men the Animated Series, so I don’t think he had the biggest problem with it.

Refresh my memory. What was Magneto's origin story in TAS?

So is Sam Wilson going to get a superhuman serum or power suit? Because while he's athletic, he's still a regular human right?

He'll probably just be the Falcon with a shield.

Does anyone even really give a damn about Magneto’s origin? I sure don’t and I was a big X-men comic fan back in the day. Sort of like how MCU Spider-Man didn’t Waste time with an origin story.

He went decades without one in the comics.

I don’t know when his origin became super important to his character, but it must have been after I stopped reading in the early 90’s.

His character has been everything from master thief, to kind teacher, to psycho bent on world tyranny.

Charles has been pretty good at hiding.

The Savage Land exists, in theory, somewhere in the MCU, or any of Hickmans current run.

That’s about when I stopped reading. I just don’t see any reason why his origin is important. He’s not a character that has to come from a certain time/place.

Casting a black man as German Holocaust survivor is anti-Semitic

Magneto wasn't originally Jewish which means he doesn't always have to be Jewish in every modern incarnation. There would be nothing prejudiced against Jews by a race swap nor would there be if he was retconned as a survivor of genocide from a more modern era.

Your stance is essentially like saying that b/c there is currently black version of Nick Fury in the Ultimate Marvel universe he is now forever going to be black and if a person of a different race plays the character it's racist.

A Magneto from that time period could also just as easily be Roma, Sinti, African (yes there were also black people in Germany then) a homosexual, a communist, or just a garden variety German who stood against the Nazis. This is why Magneto as a survivor of any genocide in any era works just fine. The #1 most important thing about Magneto is he hates those who he believes are bigots and racists. Being Jewish doesn't really have all that much to do with that aspect of his character. Hell, he wasn't even explicitly Jewish when he was first written as a Holocaust survivor and for a chunk of the 90s he was Sinti.
