Not in terms of ill will they earned from fans.

Studios can build up so much of this that it doesn’t matter how good of a product they spit out, fans are not going to accept it and they’re not going to flock to the theater for it.

The amazing thing is it Ghostbusters managed to do this in less productions.

. Ghostbusters is not a little kids movie. Having a bunch of little kids as the main characters is a stupid arse idea.

This is another one of those fake sequels that's actually a reboot attempt.

Ghostbusters was beloved by children,b ut it wasn't a children's movie, there's a big difference.

i agree with you, but this does look like a decent movie.

Political talk has derailed this thread.

How both sides can’t see how they are equally annoying is beyond me.

Shut. The frick. Up.

This is the Ghostbusters sequel I’ve waited 30 years for. Let me enjoy it.

well, the main thing is the car. it's the Ecto-1 (GB1) and not the Ecto-1a (GB2). that and top it off with a majority of the fans not liking it as much.

GB2 is basically considered the cheap sequel that probably shouldn't have been made according to most. i thoroughly enjoy it better than GB1.

I think Ghostbusters 2 could remain canon if you just drop references to the Ghostbusters being discredited for the events in the first film, Just something for a little bit of connective tissue. This way you don’t really have to go into Vigo, slime river, or any of that other shite.

and tell me which one moves you more...

eta: i'm an '89 baby so a majority of the movies i watched were from the '90s. GB2 is more of a '90s movie than it is an '80s movie. there's nothing really '80s about it compared to the first one and that may be one of the reasons i like it better.

plus, GB2 wasn't the only blockbuster to release that year/summer. check out these movies that it competed with that year.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Batman
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Karate Kid pt 3
Weekend at Bernies
Lethal Weapon 2

I think the guys arguing about the correct car and equipment should find a willing dungeon master, whip out their 9 sided dice, and settle this like real nerds.

Where are you finding a 9-sided die?

Interesting number to choose, anyway.

Besides the Summer of Batman, 1989 was also the Summer of Rick Moranis.

He was in three high profile films that Summer:

Honey I Shrunk the Kids
Ghostbusters II
Parenthood

If a movie has a female lead or strong supporting character or a minority in a similar role, you pull this same schtick. Ever thought that maybe the problem is yours?

fun fact, the ecto-1 in this film is a recycled ecto-1a.

https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2019/12/13/the-ecto-1-hearse-in-the-new-ghostbusters-flick-is-actually-the-once-neglected-ecto-1a/

quote:

According to Quick, Sony converted the former Ecto-1A into a reasonable facsimile of the Ecto-1A (minus the ladder swapped to the driver’s side and the rear passenger door converted to suicide opening for the gunner’s seat) for “Afterlife” and outfitted two more Cadillac Miller-Meteor hearses for shooting; all three now have GM LS V-8s under their hoods.
