Getting upset just because the lead is a female is equally as dumb as championing for nothing but female leads in all movies.

It’s not like they kept the character of Egon and gave the part to a female just to do it. It’s a new movie with a new lead, if it’s a good movie I don’t care if it’s a god damned carrot playing the lead character.

Looking at a list of 2019's highest grossing films domestically, 3 have female leads. Captain Marvel, Frozen 2, and Us. Us is not a "tentpole", and Lupita is part of a family ensemble anyway. Frozen 2 is a movie for little girls that should feature girls. Where is the evidence of female leads in all of our tentpole films?

You don’t reward regressive fanboys – many of whom created an atmosphere of racist, mysoginist toxicity that led to a leading lady leaving this very platform – by MAKING THE VERY FILM THEY WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE

How dare they make a film people actually want to see. The horror!

I can't wait to see what the talking points will be when this grosses $1B.

I don’t think so. Ghostbusters is in the same hole as the terminator franchise. It doesn’t matter if it’s ever good again because there is so much Ill will that fans will never make it that successful again.

Frozen 2, Star Wars, Ad Astra was about toxic masculinity, End Game killed off or retired the three main dudes, and replaced them with two chicks and a black guy, Terminator, Toy Story 4, even John Wick felt the need to add an old lady to the cast. The list goes on when you don't try to limit the scope to only what has come out so far this year. Cheap trick. Bad form on your part.

Obviously, shite like Terminator and Charlie's Angels didn't do well at the BO, but they were definitely intended to.

The day we all find out for sure that China writes all of these movies, Baloo is going to have to ban me because I'll never stop beating you people over the head with it.

Two women died in End Game, one of them a minority.

The old lady in Terminator is a main character in the first two. Halle Berry had a small part in JW3. Do you want movies to be 100% male? You're not gonna find that anywhere but gay porn.

Good point. It's out of love, though.

To Stalin, I was responding to a guy who was limiting the choices to this year's movies only.

This has been talked about on here and confirmed for a while. Not only are movies more likely to get greenlit if they have some SJW or diversity angle, they are proven to get better critical reviews, even when the audience hates them.

You said the past couple years. We're at the very end of one of those couple. I pulled out half the data set using the 10 biggest hits of the year. Most people don't see more than 10 films in a theater per year. And tentpoles are blockbuster franchise movies, which eliminates something like John Wick. How else should I do it, given your parameters? Of course we can find more examples of we widen the scope beyond what you said.

I haven't seen Frozen 2, that assessment of Ad Astra is being a dick about Ad Astra (and also makes it sound like you haven't it), one of those three core heroes killed or retired in End Game was a female. And we weren't talking about Black guys so where the hell did that come from? Thor hasn't been retired, and the female Thor thing is a comic plot that you sound confused about.

Terminator's main characters have been females since the first one, so that one's out. Toy Story added a girl in the second one, and everyone seemed OK with that considering it's regularly cited as the best one (incorrectly). And John Wick added a female side character that has a history with John Wick because those movies are all about building his and the world's historical mythology. She is in one 25 minute segment and then she's gone. You know what's boring? Filling out a world with only burly men. There are also prominent women in the 2 previous Wicks.

The same exercise with 2018,the other of your "couple years", yields nothing better. Solo had a female villain. Jumanji and Antman had female sidekicks, but no leads. Incredibles 2 is about a headstrong woman making crummy decisions. You going to bitch about Oceans 8,the 22nd highest grossing film of the year, and the only movie in the top 30 that fits a female invasion of male roles narrative?

Brad Pitt: Space movie 'Ad Astra' also about toxic masculinity

No, the main character was always Arnold. Sure, A main character was SC, but now they're all chicks, including the junior trainee lesbian main hero/robot.

Captain America, Thor and Iron Man. Which of those is a woman?

No one ever gave a shite about Black Widow, man.

Even Family Guy knows that.

Oh, you're a chick. Never mind. I don't feel like talking to walls today.

I disagree. A lot of people have wanted another Ghostbusters movie since the second one ended. There's always more ghosts to be busted.

Terminator ended perfectly in T2 and they should have stopped there.

If nobody wanted more terminator films after Terminator 2 judgment day, there would not have been 4 more films.

I know everybody has wanted a new Ghostbusters film for a long time, but don’t pretend like nobody wanted more Terminator
