They’re going to for plot reasons play pretty hard and fast with the range of the scorpions.

I hated the part with the dragon death. They've got a MASSIVE advantage in terms of vantage. Those ships shouldn't be able to sneak up on you. With the big crossbow thingies, the dragons should be used exclusively at night, defense excluded. Also hated the Messendre (sp?) capture being a big deal. I get that she's useful, but she's very expendable. I don't think her death should really register on Daeny's batshit scale, but it may just be the last straw, with 99% of the other straws being that the nephew that she's been fricking is more qualified in every way imaginable. Also, I don't think that Daeny's ascent to madness has been gradual enough.
LOVED everything else about the episode, and thought it was the best since Hardhome. The NK's defeat allows us to get back into politics. The Starks, Tyrion, and Varys knowing what's up with Jon and preferring him to be king over Daeny. Daeny starting to go Mad Queen (though, again, a bit too quickly). Bitch arse Sansa obviously trying to finagle her way on top.
After a re-watch or two, this will probably be one of my top 15 episodes. Typically re-watching improves my opinion of a movie/TV show, but in this case I'm a bit worried that I've got a "game" high, and I'm just overly excited that we've returned to what made the first ~3 seasons great.

The last 2 seasons are no where near season 1-6. It’s a shame

Best scenes (as most posters have stated) were Tyrion and Varys discussing Dany. And I feel like they’re both fricked and this is the first time in a few seasons that Varys has showed himself useful.

I just don't get what their goal was with ghost... It's like they knew the fans loved him so they brought him back, but refused to give it any significance. He'd been missing for seasons, so I think we all accepted he was gone. But they brought him back. Just to tease us. I mean they couldn't have him kill one fricking wight? Anything? And then Jon just gives him away and doesn't tell him bye?
How about this... Last week people were bitching because the NK raised dead and had Jon surrounded. When they come back to Jon a couple scenes later he is handily defeating just 2 or 3 wights when there was dozens just moments earlier. That would've been a great opportunity to have ghost show up to save Jon. Ghost can die while buying Jon time. Then you give ghost a valiant end AND solve the plot hole of how Jon got out of that situation.
Also, why they just refuse to show us anybody reaction to the Jon being Targaryen news is just baffling. It's not as if it's one of the biggest plot points in the entire show that would be mind blowing to any of these characters... Nah let's just skip it and leave that to the imagination. Why the frick wouldn't we want to see that? What's the point of watching a show and following these characters if we can't experience how they handle news like that? Unreal.

The episode started off really good. The paying tribute to the dead and celebrating the victory was well done. Although there didn't seem to be nearly enough funeral pyres for the amount of dead there should have been, especially considering that they were not exactly stacked on top of one another. Unless maybe they just put the nobility or top people on the pyres and burnt the small folk in a big pile somewhere off camera.
My opinion is that it went steadily downhill as the episode progressed, though. The Tormond stuff was pretty weak, the Jon giving Ghost the cold shoulder was just not believable.
Most of all, the Deus Ex Euron is getting really cringey. What commanders would fail to do any reconnaissance whatsoever.

I thought Varys was gonna start making moves for Tyrion’s position as hand when he got up right after Daenerys did.

How does Jon go hug Gilly yet Ghost lost an ear and has been by his side for 8 years and he can’t even go pat him on the head for being a good boy. Rude!

Think it’s just a show of respect for the queen. Varys never really had a choice but to follow her until now

Instead of Missandei, that should have been Sansa, Arya, or SOMEONE whose death I would have cared about
How would that have pissed off Dany though? That’s what they needed to have happen for her to go scorched earth.

That scene pissed me off so much.

I’m kinda glad we didn’t see Arya’s reaction. Kinda makes it more suspenseful trying to figure out where her head is at with this knowledge.

People last week: “This show has just become fan service and it sucks”
This week: *Jon leaves Ghost* - “ARE YOU frickING KIDDING ME?! frick THIS shite”
But I am also on team frick this shite in regards to Ghost’s treatment.
