Cersei let Dany go because she knows what she’ll do next and Cersei needs her to do it. Cersei is an evil bitch, but she’s a smart evil bitch. She’s framed Dany as this mad foreign usurper and only Cersei can keep the kingdom safe. Killing Dany then and there does nothing. She also doesn’t know what her allies would do next either. Would they attack leaderless? Do they regroup? Do they go their separate ways and plot to kill Cersei at a latter date?

So yeah Cersei did the smart thing for her goals. Draw Dany in, be seen offering her peace and mercy, use it to provoke her and let Dany fall right into her trap.

If Dany weren’t so emotional (and reeling from the news that she doesn’t have the best claim to the throne), she would have stayed up in Winterfell for at least a couple of weeks with her troops at bare minimum. Honestly she should have waited it all out. Build allies, plot the taking of the capital longer. How long did Cersei pay for the Golden Company’s services? Was it a term contract or a specific goal contract? If it was the prior, wait it out. If the latter, send for your back up across the Narrow Sea. The Second Sons launch an attack from Dragonstone while you attack from the North, your allies in the other kingdoms attack from the South. Boom, crown won.

But Dany is emotional and she wants the job finished. She can build a following, but a great strategist and leader she is not.

Either way, I’m excited to see how it all ends. Dozens of different ways it can end with lots of paths they can get there. Watching people melt and bitch and complain will just be dessert for me.

I didn't really get the Justice League vs the Night King vibe last week, but it had to happen, just over the top. This week was total crap except for the
subversive plot scheming scene.
