That foreshadowing was for he to become a faceless man. The douche D's just used it as well for the NK death.

I mean shite go rewatch the scene last night when Melisandre and Arya are talking. They instantly cue battle drum music when Melisandre mentions the eye thing to Arya, and they stare knowingly at each other.

Do they have youtube videos analyzing the size difference between a giant and a human? Because the difference between a giant and a human is a little more unrealistic than the difference between a pigeon and a raven.

What elements do you consider magic? Would WW/Wights fall under that? If they dont, I dont see how they would be considered more grounded in reality than a raven that flies pretty far and is accurate.

That point cannot be argued. Maybe you tried all of those things but for those that had the right lighting/tv/setup, it was an incredibly shot episode, one of the best of the series

other than a little magic here or there

An army of dead people

A 700 foot wall of ice

Giants

Stone men

10 year old becoming an assassin

Tame dire wolves (how did they get south of the wall?)

Unburnt woman

Some of this was magic, but you really think the frickin birds were the most unrealistic thing?

For a moment it seemed like maybe Bran was actually in on this and was part of the NK.

only redemption is somehow make it where the 3ER is the bad guy in the story and the NK was trying to save Humanity. but we know that isnt going to happen.

A thought that I had surely destined to disappear in the weight of this thread...

How did Arya get past the White Walkers to stab the Night King?

A plausible idea is that Melisandre had something to do with it.

We all know she's capable of altering appearances.

We never see what she is doing in the hall near the end of the episode, but it was important enough for the Lord of Light to have the Hound in position to protect her for it.

Maybe she was casting a spell to make Arya invisible?

Makes more sense than the Arya-already-in-the-Godswood possibility, considering we see a White Walker's hair move as Arya went by, and he didn't see a thing.

Not seen on screen, so it can't ever be confirmed... but it is plausible. Showing her performing the spell would tip the hand of the surprise.

From a cinematography standpoint.

The majority of the episodes didnt require excellent cinematography to make the episode better. In this case, it made the episode better and there were some top notch parts that are on par with some of the best from previous episodes. its not really a stretch saying that.

a major nitpick but i'll just drop it

The Ice Dragon should not have had blue fire coming out the middle of its neck where Drogon bit him. The fire glands are in the throat.

What would have been an amazing mindfrick is you kill the Night King and none of the other undead die and there is a massive what the frick moment and they look around and Bran is gone and the Zombies are still fighting eveyone and they realize Bran was warging the Night King the entire time.

The only characters that I thought were for sure dead that didn't die were Brienne and Greyworm.

I thought so too. I was surprised to see that everyone in the courtyard made it out.

That’s a staging issue I guess. They get overrun, and it looks like they should die. Having them survive feels a little cheap, because it defies your natural expectations.

I liked the little sequence where Greyworm takes control and helps to light the ditch. It’s one the rare times his character gets to do something, and he executes beautifully. They also set it up well. Melisandre speaks to him in the opening sequence, establishing a connection between the two characters.

Plot choices aside, it was a beautiful constructed episode.

Some people have mentioned the scene in the first episode of the season where Arya and John meet at the Godswood and he mentions that he never heard her coming. There was something specific about that location that helped her.

The show has made her an invisible, impossible to detect, impossible to stop, ruthless perfect tactical assassin and for some reason she isn't going to just go stab eveyone in their sleep in King's Landing.

He was talking about how weak the northern army was now. Daario and all of the second sons are still in essos & loyal to Dany (as far as we know.)
