This season is already worse than S7...I don't know if it's the writing, direction, or what but so many scenes just feel awkward, poorly acted, the timing is off, they don't flow, etc.
correct on all points. the acting is very hammy and over the top (although having Sansa and Dany be so important will do that)
but they're trying to do a lot of fan service and the writing is just terrible, which affects everything else. the tone and pacing are all over the place because of this and the production suffers
one major issue is they had everyone converge on Winterfell for this massive final battle (so the fans could have a big battle), AND they feel like everyone needs a scene, so there is just too much.
this was basically the parallel to the best GOT episode, blackwater. blackwater was, iirc, the first episode in the series to focus on one location and one set of characters. however, since the show wasn't compacted and forced (like D/D have made it now), you could really explore the characters while they waited for doom and death
a super major issue is just fan service. D/D are wasting a lot of time making sure everyone gets a part in the episode, whether its pointless or not. also, due to the fan service, all these characters are now super noble and competent. if you want to see the 2 symbols of how shite this episode was (and how bad the show is not), just look at when we first see Pod and Gilly. their characters completely change offscreen and they're both now these super competent heroes, because what made GOT great was simplistic black and white characters with no variety for us to enjoy. now everyone is noble and competent (and we HAVE to see it, even though time has been limited by D/D the past 2 seasons)

Was there some foreshadowing with Tyrion being kept in Crypts for his brains and at the end wanting to hear Brans story?
Is he going to figure something out or help Bran?

The episode has been titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

Funny how fanboys work. There could be an episode of Jon Snow taking a dump, and they would think it’s the best episode yet!

Danny will hold her troops back as winter fell Is destroyed.

Has anyone mentioned the peculiarity of how many times it was mentioned it'd be "safe in the crypts"? I feel like there's a way in the night king knows about (because perhaps he is a Stark) and those women and children are sitting ducks.

I just don’t know if I see that. Can the dead, decayed remains even escape their tombs?

not as long as their iron swords are outside their tomb

Someone was theorycrafting that the tombs are sealed in magic or of the sort.

They love it until it's popular apparently

Anyone think the Iron Islands will play a part?

If shite goes sideways, I think this is the fallback point.

I felt like last night was a bunch of set up and filler, but I also found myself liking almost all of it. And it has me pumped for next week.
ETA: My main gripe was that, again, this episode was about 53 minutes long.

That wasn't my point. I was speaking to a secret entrance where a platoon of whitewalkers are deployed to while the battle goes on up top.

That’s interesting. Definitely wasn’t thinking of that.

One of the podcasts I listen to thinks the white walker will raise the crypts and make them WW

You mean like summer did in "The Door"
They have made the dire wolves worthless. I partly blame Martin for that as well.

He wouldn't know because, well, Ned is headless and his head was on a pike.
