No she seems to only be focused on taking "back what's hers". Most likely she nor anyone around her believes White Walkers exist.

Ya i guess i just didn't consider her smarts. It is very glossed over for a show which was a lot of fluff and filler over the last 2.5 seasons.

and Tyrion would laugh at any suggestion of white walkers

If the Lannisters garrison Dragonstone, Danny could land anywhere from Dorne to Storm's End.
The Lannisters barely have enough men to hold KL and the west at this point.

What I'm trying to get through but dragonstone is perfect
Land somewhere else and you use resources to have a launch point. Dragonstone is historically analogous to what she's doing its historically significant and it's perfect for such a fleet and within striking distance of the red keep

Yeah Dragonstone is the ideal landing point. I just think the stronger military logic is not to split up your forces when you are already out numbered.

Yes, but that wasn't the case for the entire past 2.5 seasons?
I guess Cersei fricked everything up by killing all her allies, but that just annoys me for different reasons.

Lannister army is (a) basically depleted at this point,
quote:Casterly Rock is a mountain fortress similar to the Vale (though previews suggest that Dany's army attacks it) and KL is a fortified city as well, so it takes less people to defend than it does to attack successfully.
(b) has to defend KL and Casterly Rock from the Tyrells
With the Frey family dead, I don't know how their army is being used, but they were left in charge of Riverrun. They might still hold it.

I liked a story where the villains were responsible for their own actions. The idea that Bran could have influenced every villain for generations means that all of the dislike for people like Joffrey, and Ramsay, and Cersei, and Aerys, and Viserys is all potentially invalid.
Its not like Bran could control his impact on Hodor...... He made him a dimwitted mute, for god's sake. he didn't alter history.

If Cersei wasn't a complete idiot and hadn't alienated half of the realm with various acts of incompetence, then things are much different.
If she had Highgarden on her side she could probably afford to garrison along that coast and deny Danny a landing point except Dorne (or I guess the North?)

Harkening back to my bitching about Sansa being a fricking moron, none of the other Lords in the North fought alongside Jon, should they too get their lands stripped?
frickin idiot, so glad she wasn't elected queen in the north.

I can't really argue military tactics - i think allowing them to regroup on your doorstep is a pretty poor choice. It just seems to have received no treatment despite being a pretty damn major factor. It took her 3 seasons to get ships and then in 2 episodes "ok cool, sail to an open castle that is perfect for us to regroup and set up an attack".
So be it, cersei is an idiot that also managed to become queen a couple times - she is blinded to her true enemies i suppose. I've accepted it.

When she fricked with Highgarden she lost a substantial part of her military backing and most of her food source.

Why garrison it though? They would be defeated quickly. Or Dany just sails to Dorne instead.
The only reason I could gather was as guard post for the entrance to BW bay and also to house a few naval elements that might patrol the bay and the nearbye coast. I guess that wasnt viewed as important though.

They actually fought quite a bit in the Riverlands against Robb. Since then they have been losing raids to Beric and have had to control a huge swathe of the continent.
I thought the books made it pretty clear that the Lannister army isn't in great shape anymore (not to mention their funding issue).

Considering we see some Lannister troops going up to the Twins, I think it safe to say that the Freys are effectively wiped off the board at this point.

Its unbelievable that Little Finger has positioned himself in the North and has an extreme position of power considering Jon needs his men.

actually Tyrion burned their own fleet setting a trap for stannis.
necessary at the time and ironic now that he's playing for team dany.
