Btw..

Shouldn't Bran be informing Sam of some info that he needs to know?

He's sorta in charge of his house now, right?

I'm sure this has been discussed but imo the remnants of Yara's Ironborn had a pretty good plan.

Yeah, the Port of Ibben would be a good place for the Iron Born.

Never mind the Aegon name is common as all get out in the Targaryen line. It's really not all that crazy to have a second kid w/the same name.

I hate to say this, but I agree. I've always thought that Jon's real name was Aegon because of Dany's vision of Rhaegar in the House of the Undying. He names the kid Aegon, says that he is TPTWP, and says that his is the song of ice and fire. None of that lines up with Elia's Aegon.

I hope so, too. I would be greatly disappointed if we don't.

I don't see why Aegon is a required name for it though. Aemon and Jaehaerys I think are the more obvious birth names for Jon, especially given with the symbolism of the former.

Well, because Rhaegar says "his name is Aegon". Aside from that, yes, it is dumb to name two of your sons the same, but maybe GRRM did it to frick with us so that we would sit around on message boards and debate it.

Why Tyrion had a troubled look. It lined up with the Bran's narrated line, "we need to tell him." So I'm thinking that Tyrion was on his way to tell Dany what the scroll sent to them said

I get where you're going with that but I have a hard time believing they'd send a raven with that kind of information on it. There's no telling who might read it before Jon. I don't think they'd be that careless.

I know I've read it somewhere that Rhaegar was convinced (due to his obsession/study of the prophecy) that TPTWP would be named Aegon.

What was it Bran was saying about him being Jon Sand?

Then same pipes up but then Bran corrects himself and goes into vision mode?

Did I miss something? Why would bran think he was Jon sand? A
Can someone breakdown that scene for me I need to watch it again.

A bastard in that region would have a last name of Sand similar to the sand snakes

Sam spoke up that Jon wasn't a bastard so his last name would be Targ

Jon's last name is Snow b/c all of the bastards in Winterfell carry the last name "Snow"

Now Bran & Sam know Jon was actually born in Dorne (where the Tower of Joy is located)... all Dornish bastards carry the last name "Sand"

However... since we have on air confirmation that Jon is in fact not a bastard at all (his father, Rhaegar, & mother, Lyanna, were married at the time of his birth)... he should get his legit name... Aegon Targaryen

I agree. No way that's his birth name in the books. While I've thought it was Jaehaerys for some time, I now think Aemon would be the appropriate name. Rhaegar constantly wrote Aemon on the Wall and Aemon was Jon's biggest mentor save for Ned. I think that would be a touching tribute.

I disagree about that not being his name in the books. There was zero reason whatsoever for the showrunners to deviate on the name. For whatever reason, Rhaegar wanted the kid to be called Aegon. I wish that wasn't he case, but I think that probably came from Martin.

Feast of Crows is the last thing Martin wrote that was worth a shite and that was twelve years ago. Don't care what the rest of the readers say. Dance was a poor effort. Can't even imagine the shite outline D&D have had to wade through. I bet they are tired carrying that fat frick. I'm going to continue to enjoy the HBO ride because it may be all we ever get.

I get the feeling that GRRM had a much more detailed outline for what happens to the original main characters than those he introduced post ASOS. I think the reason D&D largely took a hacksaw to Dorne, the Iron Isles, fAaegon, etc. is that they probably would have had to make most of it up.

Even as Ned's supposed bastard, it was known that he was born in the south and he was still called Snow instead of Sand.
It doesn't make sense to think that he would suddenly be John sand if he's born in the south because rhaegar is his father.

If anything, he would be Jon Rivers, isn't rivers the last name of targarian bastards?

If that's the case, it would make sense to name Jon Aegon IF the Tower of Joy happened after the sack of Kings Landing and the murder of Rhaegar's first son named Aegon.

I've never been clear on the whole time line for the end of the revolt. I know Rhaegar was killed on the Trident before both the sack of Kings Landing and the Tower of Joy but he could have discussed the matter with Lyanna before he left.

In reality I think GRRM was maybe just trying to muddy the waters and combining that with the whole fAegon storyline in a doomed attempt to stop people from guessing that Jon was the guy all along.
