unless he didn't want to be in range of the dragonfire. We know fire won't kill the walkers but dragonfire is somewhat different.

How do Jon and Jorah not have an exchange about Sam?

That would be kind of pointless though, no?

"I was saved by a maester intern named Sam Tarly"

"Really? That's my BFF."

"Cool Story Bro"

I thought it might have come up earlier as a way to give Jon credibility in Jorah's eyes to convince Dany to help Jon, but she's already all in.

Isn't there a difference between NK doing the "rise up" and raising them as wights vs touching something and making it a white walker? We saw that he touches the face of Craster's babies and turns them into his white walker "officers" if you will. I'd think being touched by him gives you some more elite power than a brainless wight

As were all the other exchanges between those characters last night with they way they were done. They should have been much longer and more involved

Credibility, some payoff for why Jorah is back, a way to bring Heartsbane into the story. Etc etc

lol, thought the same thing, like where they be getting chains like that norfofdawall?

also, episode had a 'Titanic, move over Rose there's enough room on the door for Jack too' moment in that that horse could have totally carried Jon and Uncle Benjen!

Dude GTFO.

I despise spoilers so much that even though I watched e06 a day early (for convenience sake) I didn't post in the Maester thread because I didn't want to even inadvertently give anything away even though I wanted to vent.

Of course my self esteem is such that I don't need to appear wise or all-knowing on a message board to feel good about myself.

Why wouldn't he just throw spears at the men before the dragons even got there? Why wouldn't the dead army throw rocks?? There's not on MF in the whole dead army that was an archer?? The whole scene was wtf for me.

Conversations that probably happen, but we don't see them on film:

Sansa, Arya and Bran on the way back from the Tree:
Arya: I can't believe you are letting Littlefinger stay here, Sansa
Bran: yeah, all he does is stir shite up for the sake of it, and then take advantage of the mess
Sansa: believe me, I know. But we need the Knights of the Vale, because the North is devasated. And Littlefinger is controlling them. Robin will only listen to HIM
Arya: I could kill him and take his face, and be "Littlefinger", no problem. Did it with Frey. But it needs to be done discreetly, and I can't get close to him without it being suspicious. But you can, Sansa
Bran: that's true, let me tell you what he does alone after he's with you-
Sansa: EEWWW. Stop it, Bran!
Arya: it's true, you don't have to warg to know what's up. He doesn't wipe his robe off
Sansa: ok, ok. Give me the dagger, and start stirring up some shite. I'll do him in my private chambers
Bran and Arya: you should kill him instead, Sansa
Sansa: shut UP. You know what I mean. Now, let me get Brienne out of here, so she doesn't spoil everything. This has to be quiet. And Arya, you better practice being creepy, so that Robin doesn't catch on. Littlefinger's creepy as hell, and likes to tell stories before he makes a point. Makes him look 'wise'
Bran: Yeah, he gives a speech saying exactly what is needed, and how if he were in charge he could make it happen.
Arya: fine, I'll work on my monologue.

So you think that sansa and arya are trapping LF and their scenes tonight were just a ruse?

I'm not so sure the scenes were a ruse. There is definitely unresolved resentment between the sisters, especially on Arya's end. It had to come out sooner or later. BUT....

Arya doesn't trust Littlefinger. Sansa doesn't trust Littlefinger. I think they realize the whole "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing. And Arya's desire has been to get home. It would take much more than Sansa's tweeny bitchiness to make Arya kill her own family.

I've really disliked how they've moved (or not moved) that plot along. Neither Sansa or Arya are acting like the characters they should be considering everything they've been through. Which makes me really, really hope that they're playing LF for once. That doesn't exactly explain their behavior when they're alone, but perhaps it's an Ocean's 12 type thing where they have to assume they're being watched at all times? Idk. It just sucks.

I think Arya is just doing her due dillegence and a little vetting of Sansa, if you will.

Also,

I just watched the making of the episode stuff for last night's episode, and it's incredible. Production for this episode was insane.

Will you people relax?

One of the most prominent posters on this board watched the leak, and then posted a "I think they should do _____" idea that ONLY becomes viable after seeing this episode. And nobody is giving him shite about it.

People post shite, and people are excited about the show. I saw the leak this past episode, and a couple things I predicted were right, and more were off. I thought Drogon would go down, leaving the 2 smaller dragons for Jon and Dany, with Jon getting the larger of the two. And Dany, having lost a dragon, would be humbled and bummed out, leaving Jon to lead the forces as she mourns. We sort of got that... it's pretty obvious going forward that Jon will be the Great Uniter, so we had to push Dany down a peg or two.

I'm just thinking you've got 2 guys walking forever engaging in small talk. How about something they have in common, i.e. knowing Sam?

Or could Jorah, in telling Jon to keep Oathbreaker, not have also said, "The Knight's Watch was important to my dad and if not for the Knight's Watch I would be dead, for it was a former member of the Knight's Watch at the Citadel who cured me of grey scale. Had you not sent Samwell Tarley to the Citadel where he cured me I'd be dead; you're keeping Longclaw in exchange for my life seems a fair trade".

I agree it's a small matter but it would have given Jorah and Jon something in common to tie them closer together in their common battle.

the primary critical snipes have to do with putting all these main characters in mortal, unsurvivable danger and then they all miraculously survive

Sure, but let's be honest, that's basically every show ever that does this sort of thing.

who do yall think tyrion wants to take dany's place if she dies? It seemed like a weird convo to have at that time.

I think this conversation pretty much sets up Dany's destiny. Even though I love her as a character and really want her to rule with Jon, I think she sacrifices herself for the good of the realm in the battle with the NK. That's the bittersweet ending GRRM has been talking about.

The discussion about succession sets up her eventual death, and she will naturally name Jon (who we know is the rightful heir anyway) as the next in line.
