Burning your own child at the stake while she cries out for your help is another level of cruelty.

That shite is 100% on Stannis
Stannis actually loved their daughter. She despised here and treated her like an outcast, and was there to talk him into killing her bc she was so far up the red witches count.
Then finally when its basically too late realizes what she did.
frick her

I know that many posters here are disappointed in their favorite Stannis. It's not too late to join the Ramsay Bolton bandwagon.

I could see Olly shanking Jon Snow.
That would mean either their storytelling has severely diminished in quality (which it seemingly has) or they've become way two predictable with their MO.

I predict Stannis death will come by fire of some sort...it would only be fitting for that dad and hopefully it will be a slow, slow burn.

mean, I don't think he's scared of anyone/anything. I think that makes him a badass because he wouldn't let anything stop him from doing what he thinks is the right thing to do.
So far, the most "courageous" thing he's done is shoot an arrow through Ygritte's back, 5 minutes before that he was pissing his pants, crying.

There is something delightful about his cruelty.

100% agree SCH. frick stannis wife. The fact that they tried to show her in a good light when she really gave no fricks about Shireen pissed me off.

If Jon Snow dies, I'll be joining team White Walker.

A man who loves his only child doesn't slowly burn her alive as a last ditch effort to save his failing military campaign.
Selyse was a royal bitch, but at least she tried to save Shireen, even if it was too little, too late.

Team Ramsay and Team Stannis can both suck it. Team LF/Sansa FOR LIFE

Willing to sacrifice his daughter for the good of the kingdoms. True leadership material.

I'm still skeptical that Littlefinger cares at all about Sansa. He just knows she trusts him, and she is valuable.

I mean, they've been telegraphing the shite out of burning Shireen for multiple seasons but somehow it still managed to shock and appaul 95% of their audience.

how about don't agree with the witch and bring it up to your husband in the first place?

quote:I wouldn't call the Shireen thing "telegraphing". It's been an open discussion of others trying to convince Stannis to greenlight it and they finally won out. The fact that she died wasn't particularly surprising and it was a shitty plot device anyway for other reasons, some of which have been discussed in this thread and the other opinion pieces making their rounds on the internet today.

A Snow takedown would be one of those patented shock n' awe moments like the Stark beheading or the Red Wedding. At least it should be if you're gonna take out a lead like that. Subtle hints are fine, but I'm Hodor as it gets and I feel like they've been beating me over the head with telegraphing the move to the point where if they offed him now, my reaction would be "I knew it. frick this shite" whereas my reaction to the other moments was more "HOLY shite THIS SHOW IS RUTHLESS!"
I have no clue whether Olly will kill Jon or not, but if he does, I just think it's shitty and the buildup has just been lazy and obvious. Hopefully, he does something like save Jon from an assassination attempt or take his shot and fail, but if he succeeds, they just wasted what should have been one of the most shocking deaths of the show.
Posted on 6/8/15 at 3:47 pm to Jamohn
If they kill Jon Snow, that would make the Night's Watch stuff even more intolerable. He is untouchable right now IMO.

Can anyone in here give me a safe entry point into the readers thread where I can read the Stannis melt without hitting any major spoilers? I've heard the book readers are furious, so I want to see the carnage.
