Rubrius lived long enough to be smashed by Hannibal at Cannae. Speaking of which, does this look familiar?
Rubrius was killed at Utica by Curio. And no, that's not very familiar. Cannae was a vastly different battle. Being overwhelmed by a numerically superior force is not the same as the feigned retreat from Cannae that allowed Hannibal to envelop a massive Roman army. Varro was a damn fool.

I think the show would have been much worse if they stuck closely to the books. Like unbearable. Nimble dick, Tyrion on an endless boat voyage. No Hardhome. Sansa babysitting sweet Robert all season. No Bronn. Worthless Kingsmoot. Idiots trying to tame a dragon would have been cool to see.
Don't forget Sam's riveting journey to the Citadel and Jaime's thrilling walking around chapters. As much as Dorne was a let down, let's not pretend it's amazing in the books. It makes a bit more sense, but it's also even more drawn out.

Listening to you frickers whine makes me glad I didn't read the books. I found this season very enjoyable and Hardhome is a top 3 episode. HODOR!!!!!!
Posted on 6/15/15 at 8:58 pm to BOSCEAUX
Hardhome was a fantastic episodes. One of the reasons why im not opposed to all changes but the changes make sense and they shouldn't butcher a character's whole makeup with senseless changes.
Killing Barristan was as unnecessary a change yet. One of the greatest swordsman to ever live with 20 unsullied gets taken out by a bunch of blue blood aristocrats with knives. bullshite.
They just needed to reaffirm the "OMG WE'RE SO EDGY BECAUSE WE KILL GOOD GUYS!!! SEE! LOOK HOW EDGY AND REALISTIC WE ARE". frick Off

Is it safe to say that Dany feeding the guy to the dragons was to make up for lack of Quentyn?

Yeah, I was willing to support D & D in this when I thought Sansa would finally grow a pair and start to take an active role in her survival. If Arya can do it, why can't Sansa?

Apparently fricking not! I mean seriously. This isn't up for debate. Until this scene (unless she doesn't learn from it at all at which point I will wholeheartedly agree with you that it was a pointless scene and the show has devolved into smut), Sansa has been waiting for her white knight.
Sometimes the words "I told you so" just don't cut it. Jon is dead. Stannis is dead. GRRM doesn't know what the frick he is doing and HBO's writers are equally shitty.

Which we're getting next season apparently.

Jaime's thrilling walking around chapters.
The only thing worth a damn about Jaime's arc this season is his final scene with Myrcella. Jaime in the Riverlands slapping around the Freys and confronting the Blackfish was infinitely more entertaining than the things happening in Dorne this season. That was a bad change as far as I'm concerned from this moment.

Well if Barristan is still alive does Dany take Tyrion into her confidence so quickly(people seem to like them meeting up quicker) and is Jorah able to make a end road in gaining her trust back?

But going down saving Grey Worm? Come the frick on. At least have him going down saving Dany. That's just shitty storytelling having Barristan go down defending a character absolutely no one cares about and save Missandei, everyone would forget about in about 3 months.

We are getting Euron next season too, so I'm told.

grey worm's actor is just the worst. shouldve never had the language difference with him. just have him be a cultured unsullied that speaks english. i cringe every time he talks

I agree. I enjoyed reading Jamie turn into Tywin. The Hardhomme and Winterfell changes I have liked. I feel like we only went to Dorne to see some titties.

Hopefully/probably streamlined.

I'd say at the least, they combined to dull plots into one.

Agreed there. I would rather Grey Worm die saving Barristan. Helps us avoid the shite love story.

Tha frick? Cannae was during the Second Punic War, baw. Julius Caesar wouldn't be born for another 100 years after that war ended. It's safe to say that all participants of the Battle of Cannae (216 B.C.) were dead long before the Ides of March, some 172 years later (44 B.C.).

The Dorne scenes were a drag this season. Something I was very excited about going into the season and ended up not giving two fricks about. The sand snake scenes were cringeworthy.

quote:True, but the whole situation would seem kind of pointless.
How do we know that they don't? I mean it's a boat, not a chevy impala, it takes a little time for Jamie to see she died, tell the captain and start turning around

Not to mention Doran's stupidity. Whenever Ellara goes up to Doran and says that they should butcher Myrcella, he should have immediately banned her from the Palace. Instead, she can apparently go in, is allowed to have an audience with the girl she's trying to murder, and then goes to see her off? Jaime should have immediately told her to go frick off when he first sees her in the chamber with Myrcella, and had Bronn between her and Myrcella when they were departing. It was simply stupid.
Plus not to mention their motives. I can say pretty safely that the single last thing Oberyn would have wanted upon his death is for his girlfriend to murder an innocent little girl who has nothing to do with the conflict. Haven't seen enough talk about it in this thread, but frick Ellara and the Sand Snakes too (the youngest maybe literally). Just a bunch of mindless heathens who go around butchering children on a whim.
