quote:Those were his friends who didn't want him to be executed. If anyone else had caught him, he'd be dead.
That's the thing. The first time he left, a group of guys went and got him
quote:I agree that they were already sore with him for letting the wildlings through, but I think announcing to a room full of people that you plan to desert is grounds for immediate execution. Slynt was executed immediately after his disobedience.
he barely finished announcing that he was leaving before a group of guys rushed and stabbed him.
quote:Disagree. I think it makes sense to keep the discipline they've adhered to for thousands of years. Like at West Point, if you break the honor code, you're gone.
Also, "for the watch" makes way more sense from the perspective of hating the wildlings.

Gonna need a GTFO on that gif

I guarantee that will happen. Also a downvote, and an Abandon Thread one.

That was a great reneactment of Darth Vader throwing Palpatine off the ledge to redeem himself for Luke

buddy sent me a reddit thread saying stannis would be 1000th lord commander of night's watch after Thorne. how perfect would that be?
Posted on 6/15/15 at 6:03 pm to Carson123987
I have thought about who would be LC 1000. It won't be Stannis.

Would be awesome for book Stannis, great military commander.
Terrible for show Stannis, because he's an idiot.
My thoughts on Stannis...

Who'll be 999? On the show, it will probably be Allister, but he wasn't a candidate in the books.
The number was definitely a deliberate choice.
Jaime might be 1000. If Dany wins, she's definitely not letting him just mope off to Casterly Rock.

I agree that the reasoning of the "daggers in the dark" isn the book was much better than their reasoning in the show. It was more complex and defensible. The show seems like it wanted to keep Jon's reputation sterling at the expense of the stabbers.
I did think the actual stabbing was very well done on the show. The way they each took a turn and owned their actions. Probably get them all killed (did any of Ceasar's attackers live long?) but it was effective the way they did it. Except for Ollie of course. Listening/reading the show runners and actors I think they were actually trying to go for sympathy for him but I don't think I've seen any fans that didn't think he was a little punk with all the staring and stuff.

Pretty sure the Night's Watch is soon to be irrelevant as they have served their ultimate purpose in warning the kingdom of the army of the dead headed south.

I'll reiterate what I said earlier: frick Ollie

I think olie was more about Jon's disbelief. It was his "e tu Brute?" moment.

And I think the actor who played Ollie was smarter than the show runners. Kit Harrington saidthe kid was very nervous about the scene and said something like "everybody is gonna hate me".
Harrington's reply - "welcome to show biz"

And the kingdom still doesn't care - yet.

quote:I thought it was pretty chilling, and I like the Benjen troll tie-in. Everyone expected Ollie to be in on it, so it wasn't as shocking as it could have been.
I did think the actual stabbing was very well done on the show
quote:Some did. Everyone in the senate took a turn stabbing him either while he was alive or after he was dead. Most didn't though.
did any of Ceasar's attackers live long?
Speaking of which, does this look familiar?

By the way the Hodor leader hasn't posted in two days. I'm worried.
The readers probly Jon Snow'd him, night's watch style.
