Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying. However it didn't seem to me like the table was very far from Olenna.
She is sitting at a different table than the one Joffrey's goblet is on. She never gets close to it.

So when exactly did she drop poison in his drink?
Why is it so impossible that she slipped it in while everyone is watching Joffrey chop at the pie? Especially when the fricking birds flew out and everyone was shocked/distracted.
Literally nobody would have been watching her.
If there were anyone else who had a better opportunity I wouldn't be so adamant because I agree there are some head scratchers in the theory, but I literally cant think of ANYONE else who had a better opportunity who would actually do it.
And like others have said, who knows how deep this rabbit hole goes. Varys and Olenna have talked several times, maybe he had something to do with it.

I understand that, but how far was she from it? 10 feet? Maybe less?

No time, she is at a different table. She stands up with everyone when he chops the pie and she sits right back down. That sequence only takes a few seconds, she didn't have time to run over to his goblet and drop poison into it without anyone noticing.

So tyrion pours the wine from a decanter in front of cersei.
I haven't read any of this thread beyond this post on page 11 but I had to say this cause it just popped in my head...
What if it was Jaime but he was trying to poison Cersei? She no longer wants him. He can't stand to see any other man with her which is why he told the brother he would never marry Cersei...
And Tyrion just happened to pick up the poisoned wine from in front of Cersei when he poured Joffery's wine...
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Just an off the wall thought.

Here is a link to the scene.
Thanks, just watched again. They are even more deliberate than I originally noticed with Olenna and the necklace. You can even (kinda) see when she pulls it off.
Also, when Tyrion picks up the cup Olenna is right there. That's just a few feet.

Deleted it because I didn't want someone to read the comments and get me banned for spoilers.

She was sitting, literally, two steps away from where Tyrion picks up the cup.

But then why isn't Cersei dead too? Wasn't she drinking from the same decanter?

sansa does hand him the cup

But Joffrey drinks from it before he cuts the pie and nothing happens to him. Only after Tyrion hands it back to him does he choke.

Did no one else have a thought as to whether that slow song the minstrels were playing was the same song as at the freys right before the Starks were slaughtered. ..I think it is the same and could be significant.

Your theory makes a lot of sense.
The only definite participant, IMO, is the fool. He got Sansa out of there before Joffrey was even dead and seemed to know who would get blamed as well.
The Cersei theory seemed absurd at first, but to be honest she probably had the most to gain. She also had that line to Pycell about "THE Queen" giving him an order. Then when she was walking with Tywin not long after, didn't he ma,e a comment about her being in a good mood? She was on a rampage before that - what changed?
I could be talked into anything at this point. Everybody had a motive, and I assume that's why they were panning the crowd during the midget fight; Joffrey was in rare form, even for his punk arse.

I dont think so. He tells tyrion to kneel after she hands tyrion the cup and he doesnt them she says oh the cake

Interesting...And Cersei did get rid of the Maester (sp?) Right before it all went down.

So she threw the poison diamond in the goblet from where she was sitting? She is never close enough to the goblet to drop poison in. She is sitting at an entirely different table. You should rewatch the scene, that YouTube video was all chopped up.

Ya after rewatching that, she is the closest one to it, she definitely grabbed something off Sansa's necklace, and she has this look on her as it shows her face when Tyrion picks the goblet up and she watches intently as he drinks it.

Agreed, and if the fool was involved then I think Olenna has to be. Her messing with the necklace the fool gave her is the only thing that links the necklace to the crime and he is clearly involved based on his actions at the end.
My biggest question is if Varys is involved. There were multiple shots of him looking pained in the crowd during the party and he has interacted with Olenna in private several times recently. I don't have any idea why he might be involved but it seems like something up his alley, especially given his connections across the world. Maybe he acquired the poison.
