I could see Stoneheart being introduced sometime in S5 since there will be a lot more focus in the Riverlands next season with Jaime and the Siege at Riverrun, the Brotherhood Without Banners (Gendry will have to be with them right?), and Brienne and Pod.

I wonder in what context will we see the Blackfish again. I think if Riverrun was still in Tully hands we'd have heard about it this season.

I think you guys are getting a little too worked up about nothing. As far as stoneheart's concerned, it really wouldn't make much sense (show-wise) to have her suddenly show up at the end of the season. If she does turn out to be an important part of the stories, I would hope they'd build up her appearance a bit more than anything one or two minutes at the end of an episode could have accomplished.

As for Tyrion and Tysha and "wherever whores go," again, if it turns out to be an important part of the books and tv show going forward, all that's needed to re-introduce that story is a simple scene of dialogue between Varys and Tyrion at the start of the next season.

They've left out a lot of small details on the show like the kettleblacks, tysha, and maggie the frog (at least so far) because it involves mostly internal monologue in the books and it's probably trickier to convey on screen than it is necessary to make them part of the show.

I thought the episode ended on a positive / high point. There's nothing wrong with that. No reason to throw in a WTF moment at the end just to please the book readers. Let the hodors be happy for once.

Brienne told Pod that Freys control Riverrun, when they came to the fork in the road.

The show from the sec/third season on has so completely f'ed up the riverlands details, I have no idea how they will be able to untangle all the knots they deliberately put in place there. However, it is possible that if Riverrun is being beseiged by the Freys, like in the books, then it is essentially controlled by the Freys whether they have the castle or not.

Yeah. The Stoneheart thing doesn't bother me. The Tysha thing does a bit.

One thing that disappointed me was the show's inability to convey the wildling army in the scope I would have liked to see it in. Both last week which was shot in darkness and inside to a large extent. And this week where the trees covered the lack of great shots of that army. Of course I understand cost considerations and limitations so I can't blame the show. But I sure would have liked to have seen it. (The shots of Stannis' army were ok but not spectacular IMO).

I thought the formation shots were really well done.

However, I have no clue how Jon walked straight to Mance and Stannis rode straight up to Mance if there are 100,000 people in the forest.

I am sure it is stated explicitly in the books but it has been a while, but why is Cersei so intent on having the Mountain live? Future uses I am guessing?

To be fair it would've been.

I have less of a concern with timing (I can see both sides of it) as I do that it sounds like she's possibly being cut from the show all together. As I said earlier in the thread, if THAT happens I'll be pretty pissed. It's one of the few places you get absolute satisfaction from dying Freys.

having just finished season 4 i don't remember a specific reason she needed to have him survive. i thought it was just to test Qyburn's "experiment"

Tywin order him to be keep him alive so he could be publicly executed for his crimes, to appease Dorne.

Or just rolled up to him that easy to begin with.

Me too. I also have to remind myself sometimes that even though it's HBO they still have constraints on how much they can do without it looking overly CGI cheesy (just ask Rome how going balls to the wall financially worked out). I think we'd all like movie quality battle scenes, but it's still TV with a TV budget.

I like how they answered the Jojen question. Wish they had done something with Coldhands.

Me too, one of the things I hate most that the show has done, or not done, for that matter.

I never did think that the Lady Stoneheart bit amounted to much other than the Brienne/Jiamie stuff

...yet. Most believe that she will play a bigger part soon.

I think the Lady Stoneheart reveal should happen when she hangs Brienne.

Between the way the books were written, especially AFFC and ADWD, and the way TV works, they have a lot of shuffling to do to keep the storylines in sync while still keeping them interesting. I would look for them to slow play a few storylines (Brienne being one) simply because they will have more storylines to follow as they develop the Ironborn and Dorne and by their own admission they will not complete all of those two books in one season. I still think that between Martin clamoring for them to stretch things out and the reality of the fact that they won't be able to cut enough to cram this into one season without royally fricking it up we will get two seasons out of AFFC/ADWD. D&D have said that they expect to have half of ADWD left after next season, which doesn't make much sense.
