Isn't there an aspect of human sacrifice in her creating the shadows? Like I remember something about her needing "king's blood" to make things happen.

It's like aids. Blood or semen works.

I think he moves share into the brothel when Tywin comes back to kings landing

Not really for the shadows. The shadows drain the lifeforce of the person she's sleeping with however. She mentions to Davos that she can no longer make shadows from Stannis after the second one (which is also alluded to in Dany's vision where she sees a king that casts no shadow). She also tries to get Davos to sleep with her to make a shadow if I recall right.

One topic that was brought up in the non spoiler thread but dropped because some of it refers to future books is the absence of Stannis' daughter (Shireen I think) and Patchface so far.
I don't think Shireen is really integral to the story so I don't mind if they leave her out. But Patchface, although really aggravating does have a bit of prophesy in his rhymes. I think they can probably do without that too though.

I mostly wanted to see him just to figure out how he said "I know, oh, oh, oh". Is it a quick thing? Does he draw out the oh's?

Where does that ability come from? Didn't he drown at some point and that is the reason why he is mentally challenged? I wonder if he has some sort of connection to the Drowned God of the Iron Isles.

Unless I'm missing something, or he adds in a drastic change in future books, she can pretty much be discarded without any consequences. Just say he has a daughter and leave it at that. No screen time is needed that may confuse the TV audience when she has no impact on the story. Just MO.

problem is they make him seem relevant at some point where Melisandre starts seeing him and says
quote:
“That creature is dangerous. Many a time I have glimpsed him in my flames. Sometimes there are skulls about him, and his lips are red with blood.”

I agree. I am halfway into book 5 right now and unless something changes i can't see any reason to give stannis's daughter any screen time. I am a bit pissed by craster clubbing Jon as I don't know why that was necessary. And as to Melissandre the only reason i can go along with her and Stannis banging is if that leads to the shadows. Although I did not mind those perfect tits one bit
So far this season is living up to expectations for me at least. I am very glad they made the direwolves grow and not just leave them the same size.

i'm disappointed in the limited HODOR lines in both seasons so far.

I dont think they have done anything too drastic to deviate from the books.
The sex scene w Stannis was just to spice things up and will lead to the birthing of the shadow.
Jon getting knocked out was just for a cliffhanger and I'm sure Craster will just make them leave.
Littlefinger talking back to Cersie was just to give his character some more substance.
The prostitute (Ros?) they keep showing will probably just end up being Alayaya or they will just kill her soon for the sake of killing someone.

Maybe it was to transition Jon into the scout patrol as punishment

I don't know. Jon still has to find the dragon's glass and he is present at the Fist of the First Men (isn't he?). So he has to be there for that before he can be sent off.
This episode had a lot of deviations from the book, moreso than a lot of other eps. I don't have a problem with that necessarily.
And yeah, this Ros actress has to be sucking someone's hodor.

I do want them to change the white walkers, since HBO's portrayl is that of wild savages, in dark furs and such.
If they can get the white walkers eyes blue can they get Ghost's eyes blood red, or Summer's yellow?
Shireen plays a good sized part in book 5 due to her Illness. Greyscale is a very big topic in A Dance With Dragons.

He goes to the fist of first men but him and halfhand leave out before the others attack.
I see no reason for the scene to be put into the show other than to make sure people understand that craster is sacrificing his sons. Although I'm not really complaining it was a good scene.

Just trying to refresh my memory on the subject at "The Tower of the Hand," but when Davos rows Melisandre under Storm's End (because her shadow can't get past the wards), she opens up her robe to reveal she's pregnant, squats down, and gives birth to the shadow. Davos is horrified that the shadow looks like Stannis.
Melisandre also starts spending the night in Stannis' tent after the death of Renly.
Chapter 43 for those interested.

Eh, I disagree. It has a few parts here and there. I wouldn't call it a very big topic.

Considering Tyrion almost gets it and Griff (Jon Connington) does get it I would consider it a big deal. Not to mention how much the wildlings talk about and fear it.
