no

I dont subscribe to that, knowing what happens ahead of time in no way ruins shows for me

The bookies can go to their thread and make their comparisons and spoilery and nerd out all day long
SO because one chooses to read the book, they are considered a nerd?

I propose we keep all the bitching in driveman's thread so as not to drag this thread down.

Here's a question for the people who haven't read the books but are avid fans of the show. WTF are you gonna do fo the next year until the new season starts? Will you read GoT? If you do will you stop there and wait until the new season so you can watch the show without it being "ruined" by knowing what happens?
Will probably just do like I did with True Blood, Dexter, plan to do with Boardwalk Empire, and wait a few seasons before I start up the books to avoid spoilers if I can.

Quick question: When Stark sent out the party to arrest Gregor Clegane did they mention that it was Beric Dondarrion leading the party or was that glossed over?

Yes, Stark did say his name and give him instructions to arrest Clegane in the show.

When Ned was standing in for the King on the Iron Throne listening to the petitions. (Robert was hunting). After the villager told him about the slaughters, Ned called Beric Dondarian to take 100 men +20 of Neds Household guard and capture / kill Gregor Clegan. Right before he stripped Clegan of all "lands, rights and honors"

It's hard not to. Beric doesn't stay a minor character. If they had not named him the series would have taken a pretty noticeable departure from how things play out in the books.

Beric Dondarrion is the Lord of Blackhaven (Stormlands). He first appears when he arrives to fight in the Hand's tournament. After the tournament, he is charged with bring back Gregor Clegane. When his forces were ambushed, he is one of the few survivors.
It should also be noted that Thoros, the red priest on Robert Baratheons court who wields a flaming sword, also goes with them.
That is the scope for Game of Thrones. No spoilers but it is important to know who they are because they play a really important role down the road.
