Fourth book isn't BAD. It's just half of a story. In my case, my fav characters were left out.

Jon and tyrion have been two of my favorite characters the whole series though. Daenerys has her ups and downs with me. I like her character but I get sucked into what's going on in westeros and then all of a sudden we're back across the narrow sea.

Lulz at the reaction this week You know there was a collective "wait, WTF " at 8:57 in homes with HBO.

i definitely did. up until that point this was the weakest episode yet. But that kind of made up for it.

i thought for sure Ned or Arya was dreaming...didnt think they would kill him off.

I'm glad they didn't show Sean Beans head rolling on the ground.

For me, another great scene in this episode is the one with Maester Aemon and Jon Snow, where Aemon reveals to him his royal lineage.

It was a wonderful scene where you get a feel for not only this humble old man's pain, but the weight of history manifested in his being.

When Jon said "You don't understand. No one understands," Aemon had every right to smack him down, but true to his nature, he simply stated the truth.

It was an honest scene dominated by a character with honor and quiet dignity. Very well-executed and moving.

Aemon could be my favorite non pov character. You just get this feeling that you could learn so much from him

That was probably the least likely thing I was expecting to happen...I guess Varys was telling the truth in the dungeon that he was already a dead man.

Wow. I'm still in shock...

Haven't read the books so needless to say I was disappointed in the ending of the episode. Varys lied and tricked Ned into confessing and Ned of course sacrificed his honor to protect his family seemingly for nothing. This episode reminds me of the scene in Spartacus: Blood and Sand when the Magistrate's son was given the power to determine the fate of Varro forcing Spartacus to kill his friend.

Varys didn't lie. Joffrey did. Even cersei thought that they would let Ned take the black. This was all on joffrey everyone else understands that there can be no peace made between the lannisters and starks now.

Joffrey F'ed up big time here if he would have let Ned live the war between the Starks and Lannisters would have been over with the Lannisters on top. Thats why Cercei was like what are you doing to Joffrey.
