Someone explain the sin eater scene like I’m five. So he’s no longer a killer?
He was a Golem, created by rich people to take their sins. In his mind he'd pretty much become sin. Dot gave him the tools to rationalize that he didn't have to be evil. She gave him a way out.
On a different note, the death of Danish Graves transforming Lorraine Lyons into a woman of vengeance was done extremely well. It turned her battle with Tillman into a lifelong war, something Tillman never imagined.

I was disappointed throughout this season. Jon Hamm and Jennifer Jason Leigh's characters seem like caricatures rather than real people. Neither actor seemed able to pull it off.
They never explained, unless I missed it, how Dot/Nadine was able to operate like a ninja and how she acquired those skills. I'll accept that she is a survivor but that in no way explains her skill set.
Dave Foley was surprisingly good and Juno Temple, Joe Keery, and David Rysdahl were solid.

I’m confused that some of you are surprised we didn’t get a traditional shoot em up ending. It’s Fargo, it’s more often going to take a quirky turn than not. My only complaint was that I wanted see the golfer husband die a horrible death.
You know, I can think of a lot of movies where they just end it with a big shootout, you see a bad guy led away in handcuffs and the good guys smile or tell a joke and roll credits. I appreciate that this show took it farther. My only disappointment was the fact that Witt died. Having some redemption for Munch was a good thing. The scenes were tense, yet humorous and touching. Seeing Roy get his comeuppance in prison was rewarding.
I’m not going to say that they absolutely “stuck” the landing, but I was fine with them providing more story over shootout.

Disagree about Hamm. I thought he did pretty well. Her character was a bit hard to watch at times though. She had some pretty good moments though.
Definitely a strange ending, but it's a strange series. I kinda liked it since I think everyone assumed a battle of some sort was coming.
Anyone notice that Gator didn't put the top back on the "escape hatch" and it was on when Roy got there? Not a big deal, but for a show this tight, I thought it was kind of glaring.
Also, YMCA playing as the "patriots" rode up to the ranch had me laughing.

I just assumed the federal agents standing above the hole had put the lid back on to keep the element of surprise.

And that is probably the correct answer. I'll show myself out now.

Who was the grave they were visiting in the end?

Great season and great finale. I laughed a good bit at Ole Munch at the end.
Will have to do another rewatch but I now rank them
1. S1
2A/2B: S2/5
3. S3
4. S4

at funerals to hire poor people, who were to take upon them all the sins of the party deceased. One of them I remember lived in a Cottage on Rosse-high way. (He was a long, lean, ugly, lamentable Raskel.) The manner was that when the corpse was brought out of the house, and laid on the Biere; a Loaf of bread was brought out, and delivered to the Sine-eater over the corpse, and also a Mazar-bowl of maple (Gossips bowl) full of beer, which he was to drink up, and sixpence in money, in consideration whereof he took upon him (ipso facto) all the Sinnes of the Defunct, and freed him (or her) from walking after they were dead

I didn't necessarily want to see a shoot 'em up ending, but I didn't expect a 40 minute epilogue with a complete lack of tenison trying to provide closure to all of the characters.
The perfect ending was Season One. Tension throughout the finale with the Fargo ending of this...

That was awesome, need to watch some of the earlier seasons. In the prison scene, did she just give him a pack of cigarettes? Was there something else in the package? I couldn’t tell….
Posted on 1/19/24 at 8:27 am to CamdenTiger
I think it was just a pack of cigarettes, kind of a taunt knowing that he will have to beg and barter for his safety but they both know it will run out and there are simply some guys who aren’t going to care what he offers them.
The whole show is about the concept of debt, what is owed and what is expected. Thought it was a really well done examination of a concept involving virtually every character in some way. The end with Munch was addressing the concept of forgiveness in a pretty well-earned way. Felt like what the show was really building was a familiarity with these two misfit characters as a way of explaining that forgiveness is in fact an option

I took it as a sex/rape joke. She said he’ll face everything he did to his wives…which I assume included rape. The cigarettes are for after all the unwanted sex he’ll be having.

Binged S5 over the weekend. It was better than S4, but I'd still take S3 over it. First two seasons were obviously on a different level.
I may have missed something, but I didn't pick up on any cameos with characters from previous seasons. Someone from seasons 1 or 3 would have been pretty easy to integrate, but maybe the showrunners didn't want to reach just for the sake of a cameo.

No. She was so sleep deprived she fell asleep at the diner (where she dreamed the Linda/Camp stuff). And once she woke up in the hospital she didn’t realize she had only dreamed it.
She realized she was dead when Roy made the comment that he’d bury her next to Linda.
