Hold up, you're trying to say that someone on the internet said mean things?
I for one am SHOCKED!
Yet Disney pretends this is some unheard of occurrence, never seen before!
They blew a handful of comments massively out of proportion so that they could virtue signal about 'muh racism'. And worse, it was done preemptively, but never mind any of that now.

You can’t push back against a third party. With the exception of the guy on the crew of White Lotus, nobody here works in the industry. If you really wanted to push back, you would be calling and emailing the executives that make these decisions. The problem is, you wouldn’t be getting the attention you desperately seek so you’ll just continue derailing threads with YouTuber opinions.

SEK:
You are bitching about mcgregor calling out the comments and trying to minimize the comments.
At least try to be objective.
None of the people involved give a shite about any of us anyway. At least keep your own integrity intact. They cant take that from you.

Where? What proof do they have it ever even happened? How are 'fans' slipping into an actor's DMs? Why not out those MFers and show them for who the are? Shame the hell out of them.
Odd. They never do.

Ewen MacGregor is a YouTuber? Because that's who I'm responding to. His nonsense.
I just want them to stop screwing up stories with their agenda. Has zero to do with getting attention.

There was no massive, wide spread assault on the actor. Droves of fans didn't boycott the show because of her race, the damn story was trash and they knew that going in. So to stir up controversy and clicks, they cried wolf.
Guess what? The show still sucked.

why didn't you just say that to begin with instead of your original claim of it never happening?

The big wigs told Hitchcock he couldn’t shoot the shower scene in the room. They wanted the camera shot behind a fogged window. He managed to convince them otherwise. They also didn’t want that one scene showing the actors in one bed.
That was movies back then.
That was movies back then.

Harvey Weinstein wanted Bong Joon Ho to cut the aquarium scene in Snowpiercer.
quote:
The producer was hell bent on cutting a scene in which a train guard guts a fish in order to intimidate a group of rebels. The shot was a particular favorite of Bong’s and cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo.
"Harvey hated it. Why fish? We need action!” Bong told Vulture. “I had a headache in that moment: What do I do? So suddenly, I said, ‘Harvey, this shot means something to me.’ ”
When Harvey asked what the shot meant, Bong replied, “It’s something personal. My father was a fisherman. I’m dedicating this shot to my father.”
Weinstein told Bong that family is the most important thing to him, which was the deciding factor in Weinstein letting Bong keep the fish gutting scene. “I said, ‘Thank you,’” Bong remembered. “It was a fricking lie. My father was not a fisherman.”

Sitcoms too. "I Love Lucy" and "The Dick van Dyke Show" both had lots of scenes shot in the bedrooms and always had the spouses in separate twin beds.

In The Longest Day, actor Richard Todd was cast as Major John Howard, the British airborne commander who captured Pegasus Bridge. Richard Todd was himself a British paratrooper officer who jumped on D-Day and met Howard on Pegasus Bridge (in a scene recreated in the film). So, in effect, Todd met himself on screen.
Todd insisted on playing the mission commander. He rejected the opportunity to play himself & immortalize his own real life heroism, b/c the part was too small

Never appeared once. In fact he wasn’t even credited in the original releases of the first two. He didn’t think it was necessary since he spent less than 3 hours doing the voice work for A New Hope.
Good to know because that’s otherwise a potentially tricky trivia question.
Duly noted.

Can a mod put Kaiju, Drizz, and Corinthians in timeout for a while?
Posted on 4/28/25 at 9:57 am to boxcarbarney
they haven't yet, and there has been many opportunities to do so. the fact is we don't have a mod, and when the idea was floated to get one - it was roundly rejected as we don't need one.
I for one am not 100% for a mod, but when the same fricking people derail every thread they enter - clearly self control is not their Forte, then maybe a mod is needed to keep them from derailing every-fricking-thing.
and yes, I have been guilty of derailing stuff, I try not to, but I have - and if a mod stepped in and addressed it, I would have the self reflection to realize i deserved it.

Hey, Star Wars isn't the right place for what current day Disney is pushing either.
And yet, here we are. Imaginary racism and now (Andor) violet rape scenes... but it's a show for kids, right?
They're out of place. I'm out of place. We're all out of place.
God you are insufferable. Your mommy always let you have the last word didn't she?

Frank Sinatra was offered the role of John McClain in Die Hard before Bruce Willis was.
