I’m so confused on the release times of this show. I expected a new one today but no.

I don’t post a lot. But I was irrationally angry without a new episode this week. After several seasons I am watching this just to get to the damn point of everything. It’s like listening to a overstimulated 6 year old taking 15 minutes to talk about how they used a crayon once.

Yeah I was disappointed last night as well. No idea why there wasn’t a new one but my tv guide definitely says there is a new one E6) next week. So it seems like it was a planned week off.

I was fully ready to watch and discuss though.

Hello everyone, I just binge watched this show over the past two weeks and read the prior season threads and it feels nice to be part of the conversation now. Bummer we’re not getting a new episode tonight.

Same. I was giddy right up to the point where I didn't see the new one. Apparently they decided to shift the release date by a week to skip releasing one on Memorial Day weekend.

A few ideas/comments I've been wanting to make for a while now that I'm caught up...

- So I'm guessing we see Boyd and Jade dig up the kids' bones in the tunnel, and after the bird resurrects, we see the gang attempt to dump the bones into the Lake of Tears.

- The recent unraveling of events reminds me of The Matrix when Neo and the Architect meet. Jade and Tabitha are tasked with saving the children but in every iteration they fail and it looks like they fail at the same stage. We can conclude this by Jade always dying at the hands of the people in town and not being killed by the nightwalkers (or whatever we're calling them). We also know the MiY shows up at this stage as well, based on his multiple "this is my favorite part" comments. Neo broke the pattern by choosing the alternate path and making a "sacrifice," so I wonder if we see something similar.

- I'm starting to believe souls are trapped in town even after death. There have been quite a few references in recent episodes regarding the things left behind by the dead and how a part of them never leaves. This was even brought up as an idea by the MiY when his female form is trying on glasses. Much like the children's bones, maybe these items need to be destroyed for the dead to be truly free? Just spitballing.

- It's very impressive how I can be hooked on a show like this and dislike basically every character. I tried to support the female cop for a while. I actually thought she was treated a bit too unfairly at first, but I think viewers have reached beyond the point of introducing characters and having them freak out for so long, a waste of runtime. I don't quite get the Ethan hate. He's a kid stuck in purgatory, we all would've been worse. It was time for Jim to die, him protecting his family as a spiritual guide seems more like his tempo at this point, which is a shame because I really liked him early on in the show. Kenny has made the biggest turnaround for me, so that means he's probably dying soon. Victor being an adult but never developing out of childhood was interesting at first, but between his weirdness and never actually sharing what he knows, he's quickly going from interesting to annoying. Throw in his alcoholic father now and I'm wondering where this is all going. I never liked Fatima/Ellis and now it's just going off the deep end. A mud giant? What? How the hell did Randall become my favorite? I was also expecting some sort of twist as to why they kept him alive but I guess not.

- This has been alluded to in previous posts but I'm ready for a mass casualty event. There are 45ish people in town and only about 10-14 people are really doing anything. Let's trim some of the deadweight and go all in on the group hatching a plan to get out and let's stop pretending we care about anyone else.

- I haven't watched Lost in a while but some of the same aspects of dealing with time seem to be present here. Everything is all kind of happening all at once. We're seeing Julie going into the past and even interacting with the MiY and throwing a rope down to save Boyd. We also know she shows up to attempt to save her dad. Of course, we're also seeing past events turn up on the current timeline and I already touched on these predestined events earlier.

- Alright, a couple of more questions. So it just so happens that Julie had a book on her when they came into town that explains her powers? What? This is like Stranger Things referencing DnD. Also, what happened to Victor's sister? I don't believe we have seen her actual death. Did she escape? feel like Julie and the sister will have some sort of connection. BiW is growing up pretty quickly, just like how the seasons changed suddenly, his growth spurt was sudden. He seems like an actual guide, maybe he's the good side compared to the MiY side? The animals in town. There is a dog that seems to be a guide, other animals show up to supply the people with food and resources, and the birds we haven't quite figured out yet. Seems weird.

came to verify it wasn’t just me. The episode list I saw said ep 6 released yesterday but I couldn’t find it anywhere and kept going back to it to see if the episode would pop up

Don’t they address this in her conversation with Randall? Stands to reason that some sort of predestination force is at work.

Those were Ethan's books. If memory serves, he's talking about them in the car ride when they encounter the tree. He's the one who mentions being a "storywalker" to Julie (which is what spurred her to find the books in the wreckage of the house).

There are definitely similarities. I just hope they actually try to do something relatively new/creative and not just rehash shite we've seen in something like The Matrix.

They are definitely trapped there...or at least partially. That's why we get the visions of people like Abby, Father Khatri, etc.

Thinking on that though, have we seen a vision of someone who died outside of the Township? And I don't mean a flashback, but an actual vision. At first I thought that was the case with some of the ones that Jade saw, but apparently those are all connected to him and (I assume) have died there.

I don't disagree with that. I do like Boyd, Julie/Randall, Kenny, Kristi (usually), Victor (I get why he's annoying, but I still suspect he will be bigly involved in resolution), and Donna sometimes. But all have their flaws (which is a good thing though).

As others have said, the books are Ethan's, which is one of my main concerns in that I have no desire for that motherfricker to be even more involved than he already is now.

But Randall made a comment about the same thing when he and Julie were talking about the books. So the writers have alluded to it. And I believe I made the Stranger Things/D&D comment a few pages back. I just hope it's not a one-to-one kind of thing where the books lay it out completely. As in it would be nice if we see the people actually figure some shite out on their own instead of simply reading it in a book.

I brought up the MiY vs the MiB parallels a while back. If the man in black had Jacob, who is Jacob for the MiY?

Double-episode drop. I'm not often a fan of a historical episode, but it really did a good job of answering some questions (we learn where the chair/door is and the relevance of the well the preacher was listening to. My guess is that's where the demon "lives".

We also learned that Richard Warren's "leadership" which led the founding colonists through a tough beginning was mainly his making a deal with a demon (or Satan, or whatever). We also learned that the deal kept him alive as long as he didn't leave the island's boundaries.

When Richard was making comments about being the last of his blood, I realized the point the writers made of focusing on the portrait of the kids drowning at sea and the one who was "lost". My guess is that she not only survived but that her lineage still exists, probably through the mayor's dead wife and into his son.

Giving Wyck the life preserver then letting him go was a top-notch move.

Which brings up a question: what really happened to his wife??? We now know she didn't die in childbirth (maybe he just states it that way because she somehow changed after going blind).

Another question: how will the demon/devil/island/entity react to Richard's death? Also, what exactly was written on the spooge-scroll?
