Can’t get over how dramatic it is. I’ve been around football my whole life and there’s no way in hell humans exist who take it that serious. Well, I take that back, there are, but they act like the dude from emcc and rush propst and the fans are the type of people that call into finebaum. No one who cares that much about football has the mental capacity for anything as deep as the emotions shown in that show

Eric Taylor seems like a good dude most of the time. Riggins is legit.

The way people treat football in that town is sorta like Varsity Blue's on steroids.

First season was fantastic. It slowly goes downhill from there though...

Texas forever.
I was telling someone this a few days ago.. that I remember senior year of high school, season 1 had premiered, and this girl I had a HUGE crush on watched it as well, hell everyone did that I knew... and she couldnt watch one weeks episode.. ( pre streaming/ Netflix) so I recorded it on a VHS tape and brought it to school for her...
god that sounds like forever ago...
but I watched it every week and really enjoyed it

While it's not near what it used to be now that giant 5-A and 6-A schools in the major cities and suburbs dominate the upper levels of Texas high school football back in the day those middle of nowhere towns had fierce rivalries and absolutely LIVED for their high school teams.
