For those who have seen it, do I HAVE to see black panther for infinity wars?

I’d prefer not to watch it, but I’m super pumped about infinity wars, so do I absolutely have to see black panther, or what do I need to know that happened in the movie.

Obviously spoilers

Nah, his presence in the IW trailer tells you he's still king when Thanos gets to town.

Why do you prefer not to watch it? Have you watched the other MCU movies?

not at all, the only thing that even remotely has to do with Infinity War is the fact that part of IW takes place in Wakanda

I have a hunch they're probably going to want to have seen Dr. Strange

Every preview and teaser makes that pretty fricking obvious.

I don’t mind spending the money. It’s losing 2 hours that I’m worried about.

On a side note, I’ve been getting a bunch of spam emails about this movie from Disney and marvel.

I'd say if you're going to go in having prejudged it, it's probably best to skip it.

It's become clear that some people are going in already loving it without having seen it because of political/racial reasons and others are deciding not to like it without having seen it, for political/racial reasons. Neither attitude seems to have much to do with actual movie watching.

There's that, but there's also another factor, honestly. Superhero fatigue.

I'm in for Infinity War, but despite the fact I love fun action spectaculars, I'm getting a bit burned out on the superhero wave. I will see through the completion of the Marvel story, because it's clear they are building towards something.

What does BP bring to the table? Tech? Better than Stark tech? Better than Asgaardian tech? Is his tech enough to keep it hidden from Thanos, enough to bring Thanos down? That part I'm interested in, but I think I already know the answer- if Thanos can take out Xandar and Nova Corps, I think he can handle the best Earth can offer (even the fictional Wakanda).

As much as I hate the people who decided it was the GOAT bc he’s black and from Africa this response is equally as bad.

I’m not saying you’re racist, you’re just an idiot

Yeah, you can miss it. I don't recall anything significant being brought up and I usually look for that stuff. The post-credit scenes also showed nothing you couldn't learn from previous movies.
