Where was the gripe from Anakin/Vader's lineage? A complete nobody who was the greatest wielder of The Force? Why does she need a spectacular blood line?

I like what they did

But Ep 7 did build it up to be more than it was.

I would think most consider the Star Wars movies, atleast the main ones, a story about the Skywalkers.

You don’t know much about Anakin’s lineage, do you?

ETA: also my biggest gripe isn’t that her parents aren’t special, it’s that they teased the whole thing, set it up as this big mystery, then just have zero payoff. That’s just a stupid trick. Plus they are just trying so hard to make the point of you don’t have to be anyone special to be great.

Did you miss the part there he has no father?

He is Jedi Jesus.

They didn't need to stick to the Skywalker line, but they needed to at least make it happen again to have her be the role they are putting her in and maintain continuity.

Not just regarding the stuff she can apparently do, but only to throw some murkiness about the apparent unfulfilling of the prophecy by Anakin.

I like that she’s just somebody

I don’t like they made it a big reveal that she’s just a regular joe

LSUZombie totally forgot Anakin's heritage and thought he was just a random slave kid from Tatooine and thus analogous to Rey.

He may have been created by immaculate comception, but he was just some random slave kid.

Her lineage wasn't nearly as bad of a frick up(if it all) as compared to the rest of the movie

Because they spent the entire last film and the last 2 years building up the big reveal of her parents...

I think it’s a plus. As I’ve been saying “Anyone can cook”.

That as a result of that "immaculate conception" had a connection to the Force significantly higher than any living being that ever existed.

Makes you a little special, dunnit?

Rey's story (although I think people may be taking the movie a little too literally, because after all, what the frick does Kylo know about it? And we are really going to take as Gospel a statement made in a highly obvious manipulation attempt?) is that two drunk junkies fricked.

You honestly can't say with a straight face that the two are equitable.

Well Snoke was nobody and he was making everyone his b*tch, even the powerful and trained Kylo Ren.He must have just known how to do the Force lightning from practice and stuff, and merging two minds worlds apart was something he just picked up in the outer rim. Yea.

You were thinking the same thing I was walking out of the theater. I understand the denial because I did it as well my friend.

They pretty clearly stated that her power is in direct response to the rise of the dark in Ben Solo - who is a Skywalker
