Finally saw Black Panther seemed over-rated...

I thought it was just ok...interesting story, decent action...but not that great. And definitely can’t see why people would go see it more than once in the theater or how it made SO much money.

I agree, but it brought in a new demographic in addition to MCU fans. Not hard to see how it made a bunch of money.

I didn’t like it too much. Boring and humorless.

If we could ban this racist OP, that’d be great.

I thought it was good, Killmonger was great villain. Kind of mad they killed of Andy Serkis and the ending was alright. The actual character of Black Panther was a weak point for me, he just seemed so meh. His sister was a more interesting character

So your thoughts after a year are, “decent...ok...interesting”.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Definitely needed it’s own thread. We now all know that you don’t give a shite about movies and your reviews are top notch.

He had no personality.

I agree. I still liked the movie. The sister and Killmonger were more well developed characters.

Its definitely on the top tier of MCU movies.

If the hype around the movie had just been about it being a great movie then you'd be right about it being overrated, but I think you're misinterpreting the hype around it and why it was such a big deal to so many people.

Such an amazing movie. It is so good, and it is going to clean house at the MTV Movie Awards. I honestly can't believe they have Infinity War set to challenge it for Movie of the Year. The Last Jedi should be there as challenge, out of respect for the two best movies of this year. In fact, they should split movie of the year and give it to both of them.

Ok, jokes aside, BP was alright. It was definitely over-hyped and that didn't help. If the movie had kind of snuck into theaters more quietly like a couple of other Marvel films(some which ended up being pretty good), it would have fared better with a lot of moviegoers IMO. I think a good comparison would be that it was enjoyable, similar to how Solo turned out. Both were enjoyable movies, very similar in terms of what they brought to the table, but which took completely different paths at the box office.

Are you serious? Black Panther is lit mayne. It was African AF! It was an actual piece of literal historical black culture on the big screen. It's what Africa could've been without colonialism. It's the first time any black superhero ever made it to the big screen.

Wakanada forever!

Hoo cah Hoo cah Choo cah! Hoo cah Choo cah!

Don't act like Black Panther isn't the best movie

These are my feelings too. Without the sister's humor, I would have barely paid attention.

I didn't think it was awful. Didn't think it was great. I typically don't get to involved in the OT "we wuz kangz" type threads. But that's all I could think about while watching it
