WB move makes it possible. His stuff is bombing, Marvel wants him back and his contract is up next May. I don’t think he’s still at DC when Superman 2 comes out.

Superman lost money and Peacemaker was canceled. Try again

It makes sense that he's rushing to get that next Superman movie out, so it's not out of the realm. I just don't know there'll be much interest left in anything DC related after he's done tying cinder blocks to the feet of the studio and then jumping ship.

Just need The Batman sequel to do well and Clayface to be good. You’ll keep the DC fans hope alive but you’re right about Superman doing damage.

Yeah, but it's Clayface. It's going to have to be supremely good to draw in the normies ( like me) because I can't believe the general public is all that longing for a Clayface movie.

I agree, I don’t think Clayface will draw because of the reasons you said but if it’s good it will be good for DC because the fans will see and like it. The Batman needs to make money, Clayface needs to be good. Nobody expected Penguin to be received as well as it was, they just need Clayface to keep that momentum of being better than expected.

No one expected Penguin to do anything yet it did, so then they chose to what.. make 1 more season and be done? It's got no part to play in the bigger picture. Gunn totally has screwed all of this up.
Good luck cleaning up this mess and making something out of it.

Penguin is done, there’s no S2. It’s a bridge from The Batman to its sequel and that’s the Reeves side not Gunn’s. The Batman and its characters aren’t infected by Gunn. If you track the entire DC you can see where they lost faith in Gunn and started leaning towards the other side. There was a point where Reeves quit and Gunn had successfully killed The Batman but as soon as Superman hit theaters and they knew it would fail, all of the sudden within the week Reeves is back and happy. Even Clayface was originally part of The Batman, stolen by Gunn but now has Reeves back on the project and you can see from the trailers which side it’ll be put with.

Wasn’t sure about Penguin, as I thought Ferral swore he’d never go through that makeup process again but maybe could change his mind for 1 more go at it?
Anyway, I’m not vested in this either way.

He did say that but he’s doing the sequel movie so I think he just meant the series. Originally planned for just 1 season but like you said they didn’t know how popular it would be. HBO is saying they haven’t renewed it but haven’t ruled it out. Kind of another example of the DCs fluidity/chaos, however you want to label it but it comes from what we’re talking about. This split was supposed to end and Gunn actively tried to end it but now the side he tried to kill is the productive side giving WB a viable option if they break from Gunn before it’s too late.

Wrong, both are facts
Superman lost $40-42 million
Peacemaker was cancelled

Do you have proof of that? Because Variety says otherwise
quote:
But the remaining lineup has delivered some enviable profit margins. Case in point: “Sinners” is expected to generate around $60 million in theatrical profits; “Superman” around $125 million; “Final Destination: Bloodlines” approximately $75 million; “Weapons” around $65 million (and counting), according to knowledgeable individuals.
