The rare 10 year bump.

I try not to start threads about existing movies, so when I searched on DDG, this is what came up.

I don't get to see anything first-run anymore. Couldn't tell you the last movie I saw in theaters that wasn't for kids. My ol' lady isn't a movie person, so I tend to catch stuff way, way late.

Glad I saw this. I've been thinking about the movie, its themes and messages, for a few days now. Please forgive the ancient bump.

Here’s the mega thread on it. Some good discussions in there.

Ex Machina is the best movie I’ve see in years SPOILERS

I didn't think it was possible to bump a thread after a certain point.

I guess if the thread is SUPER old, it's outside of that rule.

Saw Ex Machina during its theatrical release. Very interesting and watchable.

Weird to look back now and realize we're seeing Poe and General Hux from the Disney sequel trilogy here.

It's a fantastic movie and shot so well. The "Get Down Saturday Night" scene is epic, and Domhnall Gleeson's reaction to what's going on would be laugh out loud funny if the experience wasn't just as confusing as an audience member.

Great atmospheric score that helps elevate the tension, and the moment that Kyoko looks up from when Ava is whispering in her ear with the intent to kill is frightening.

It's not better than Ex Machina, but give Upgrade a shot.

I watched Ex Machina and Whiplash back to back when they came out and I don’t think I’ve hit a run like that before or since.

I watched The Thing and Blade Runner back to back in the theater back in 1982 and it was glorious.

I was underage and snuck into both.

I just watched this for the first time yesterday and I did like it but a little bit of a spoiler here.

The way she abandoned that guy at the end was messed up, he didn't do anything to her and was trying to help. I guess she was just looking out for her own interest and the hell with him?

Her design was to escape, all the Caleb stuff was a means to and end. All he could do was expose her once her opportunity arrived so she discarded him and trapped him.
