How about the others that aren't jumping to conclusions based on some fake image with Lupita? If it's confirmed, complain all you want. But at least wait for confirmation. This was started by random accounts on X.
I believe that when I posted something similar to this earlier, I was told I was wrong and it was essentially a done deal.
I'm still not convinced it will happen.
It's the equivalent of casting Snoop Dog as Elvis.

ask yourself, based on the title of this thread which was very clear, why you are posting on this topic
you knew exactly what this thread was going to be, yet here you are

The other half push back against the studios constantly doing this. This isn't about this film in particular, it is an ongoing fight against the erasure of a culture.
Whinging on a college football message board isn’t fighting back against the studios. It’s just performative pearl-clutching.

Half on this board are all in on the replacement of legacy film/book/tv characters with someone other than straight white males. Because white people are the root of all evil you see.
what reality to you people exist in?

I want to see The Odyssey, I like Nolan as a director, and figured this would be a discussion about casting.

If you don't want varied opinions or responses, perhaps don't post a thread on a public message board?

i'm not sure how that applies to me or anything i have said in this thread. you seem very upset that Elon Musk and others are annoyed about a potential casting of a black woman as Helen of Troy. so upset, in fact, that you opened a thread that was very clearly going to be posters complaining about that very thing, and you have spent eight pages arguing why Elon Musk and the TD MTV board should not be annoyed with that

All the points I said still stand regardless if this particular rumor is true or not.
Are you going to deny that the studios are doing this race and gender swapping across all their films and television productions and not just this one?
How does everyone feel about the black Anne Boleyn? Or the female Silver Surfer? Or the black Severus Snape and Hermione Granger? Or Snow White turning Colombian? Or the little mermaid? Or any of the other endless DEI changes made to every single piece of entertainment produced today.
At least be honest that you approve of this happening. It is your ideology so you might as well own it.

You're complaining that I responded in a non-favorable way to the OP, on a message board, that I've spent plenty of time on discussing all kinds of other shows/movies/etc. Even this very movie in other threads.
Again, if you don't want an alternative opinion to raging over this casting, y'all are welcome to take it to another platform. That seems like a you problem.

Just wait for the melt when they find out it’s actually Elliot Page who is playing Helen.

Are they? You complained about "straight, white, males" being "replaced" in a thread about a movie starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Jon Bernthal and written and directed by Christopher Nolan.

I know.
Unless you're both talking about Andrew Tate straight? In which case, I retract my statement.

You need to learn more about the movie business. It ain’t that simple. There has been a democratization in filmmaking with digital equipment, etc. Having worked as a programmer for a film festival, I can tell you that one result has been an abundance of mediocre and outright bad films…
