Amanda Seyfried in “The Dropout” was a much better looking Elizabeth Holmes…

Dammit man, why’d you have to ruin Amanda Seyfried for me Now I can’t stop seeing it.

I think we’re going to find out Amanda Seyfried didn’t play her near weird enough.

Watched a clip this morning from a "micro expression expert" who analyzes why her facial expression is so creepy, and it was so insightful. Talked about how the wide-eyed look is the "dissociative gaze" which humans use when they're trying to disconnect from their emotions because they're overstimulated and says this is the sort of thing you see with soldiers when returning from combat. Then when you add a smile to that, it becomes the look of a psychopth and compares it to the expression the Joker is famous for.

That's accurate. It's the stare in TD's favorite war meme but with a smile (which is creepy as frick). It's the thousand-yard stare or dead-eyes. Especially creepy when you see someone like Holmes using it very deliberately and not just due to dissociation as a trauma response.

Her title is absolutely bullshite and that whole bit about telling her kids to look for it is very weird. But the actual concept itself, dissociation, is 100% legitimate.

General population dissociates around 10-15% of the time. The best example is times you feel like you're going into "auto-pilot" (such as driving into work, but not really remembering the drive when you get there). When people are dealing with genuinely traumatic experiences, they can have dissociation when they're encountering a stimulus that brings up feelings, thoughts, responses from their trauma. Like a solider that has PTSD and hears fireworks or a car backfiring. It's the brain's protective mechanism to avoid everything that comes up around the trauma.

You're taught when you're doing trauma-based modalities with clients that you have to do additional grounding and resourcing exercises before they can start processing their trauma or you could trigger dissociation during processing.

tl;dr: Dissociating is real, the woman in the video's title is malarky.

She has not aged well since her scamming days.

I thought she went to prison years ago but I guess not. Definitely will be watching this though. The HBO documentary The Inventor was great. Mix in Fielder, this should be awesome.

That is true. Looking at some other photos it's hard to find a good one. That's just what I have pictured in my head of her from the cover of the HBO documentary.
