re: Early reactions to "Oppenheimer" out of Paris hail it as audacious, inventive, and complex

I also had no idea that Germans never really seemed to get their project off the ground.
Thanks to an erroneous German experiment, they wrongly thought carbon was a dead end for increasing the reaction. It was discovered accidentally by the Italians and kept secret. So the Germans became fixated on heavy water which is far more difficult and expensive. The Brits sabotaged the German heavy water plant and they never recovered.

This movie could be as meh as Interstellar and still be lauded on here
I hope it’s good because Cillian Murphy deserves it

We're looking forward to seeing the movie. My husband's dad was the project manager for the "B Reactor at the Hanford Site, near Richland, Washington, which was the first large-scale nuclear reactor ever built. The project was a key part of the Manhattan Project, the United States nuclear weapons development program during World War II."

Last Pod Cast on the Left has a great 6 part series on the Manhattan Project.
I think I've tried to listen to these guys like 10 different times due to recommendations, and I have tapped out just a few minutes in each time. I just don't really find them funny, and they think that they are REALLY funny, and are relentless in their "jokes." I am listening to the first Manhattan project episode now, not sure how much longer I can last.

Its a movie about a real person and factual events, how confusing could he possibly make it? Guess we'll find out.
Well, he had to go with his deep and profound non-linear chronology with Dunkirk and all it did was confuse audience members. It didn't enhance the story and those were real events.

1.9 million votes is a pretty fair sample size of the general consensus of what people think of a film... so yes, it's enough datum that I imagine it.

Oppenheimer will have to be Top 10 all-time in order to live up to the crazy amount of hype from this board. Nine different threads for it in July.

I think every one of his films except the Batman Trilogy involves some element of time.

And even Batman Begins was told non-linearly for the first act of the movie.

He unnecessarily fast forwarded 8 years for Dark Knight Rises.

Heath Ledger’s untimely death might have had something to do with that. Nolan famously says he only works on one movie at a time but no doubt he had visions of a follow up to The Dark Knight while he was filming it. There’s a fairly good chance that the Joker played something of a contributing role in the stories he might have been cooking up in his head.

I also wonder how big of an impact not having Hans Zimmer will be
Zimmer didn't score Tenet either and I wonder how different the movie would've been if he had.
