One thing though, while the amateur detective work was very impressive and is a good reminder that you shouldn’t really piss people off on the internet, none of their work actually lead them to the guy. They had nailed down what country he was in basically.
Yeah it’s kind of funny when you look up the story, these people are barely a foot note

I figure the documentary has two purposes: to tell the sick story of Luka Magnotta and also to showcase the personalities of the Internet sleuth.
A few moments spent on Reddit (oh what the frick am I saying - TD as well) will show just how smart and important Internet nerds think they are.

On YouTube, in you look up the channel "That Chapter" it's about alot of true crime stories. Dude does his homework pretty well and puts his shows together quite well.
Thanks!!! Il check it out tonight
Learned about Israel Keyes from the crime junkies podcast. Probably one of the more creepy ones since he traveled and killed at random

Some of it seemed really drug out, but I thought it was really good. Netflix is killing the competition with these true crime docs.
Also, frick that dudes mom

How much did everyone hate Magnotta’s mom?
On one hand it’s kind of hard to blame the mother, when presented with horrific crimes/evidence, for trying to cling to something to make sense of it, but on the other hand she certainly didn’t appear to have sympathy for anyone/anything except for her son...and to take it a step further she actively blames others. Honestly don’t know why the makers decided to put her in it.

I would like a documentary exploring this a bit more. In another Netflix doc, The Devil next door, the Grandson of a man who was proven to be a Nazi guard at the end of the doc is asked how he feels about his grandfather possibly torturing and killing thousands of Jews and this dude was basically like “eh he did what he had to to survive. It’s not that big of a deal” which was wild
Would love to see more about the relationships involved with these wild murders

At one point, they did find him in England. Regardless, a bunch on internet nerds finding the guys name and location with bare resources is pretty remarkable. Sure they got tips, but so does law enforcement

She’s nuts. Based on her comments, she still think Manny is a real person and doesn’t think her son did anything but follow “Manny’s” orders

Yea, not the greatest title ever. Thanks for the heads up, I'll give it a try.

Mrs. Rusty and I binged it last night. I had to coach her through some of the cat video scenes and outright fastforward the first one. TBH it bothered the hell out of me too, but I knew they wouldnt show too much and also that they eventually would catch the sick frick.
Loved the series. Very impressed with the internet nerds ability to locate and identify this guy, even if some of their leads were deus ex machina.
The mom was a complete psychopath.
As for the second set of hands in the python video, I bet this guy was involved with some kind of dark web animal harm group, so the snuff films he made were for that community. I would bet that the hands belonged to the owner of the python. Wouldn't surprise me if Luka made dozens more of these videos and had accomplices in lots of them.
