The outrage factory never ceases to amaze me. If they beat the dog and hurt or killed him that would be one thing, but making the dog do something it didn't want to do? Is that the threshold for animal cruelty now? A lot of trainers, pet owners, farmers, etc. are going to be in big trouble.

And the movie looks incredibly stupid.

So it would be ok for them to do this to a child too then?

Idk...is it OK to make your child shite outside, eat and drink out of a bowl on the kitchen floor, sleep on the floor or outside? STFU and go burn your bra elsewhere.

Exactly!!!! Do they not think people whip and rub their dogs noses in piss and shite? Or kept in kennels only let out for Bathroom and exercise while housebreaking? If this isn't pussification then nothing is.

Thats not what we are talking about here. We are talking about ethical treatment of living beings for the sake of a fricking movie being made.

Try harder next time. You might get it right for once in your life.

Or for the sake of fricking hunting. Or for the sake of fricking dog shows. Or for the sake of fricking working dogs to find drugs and bombs. Movies being made provide a livelihood of many people and is a billion dollar industry. What we are really talking about is people not giving a damn as long as they don't see it. But now that they have its the worst thing imaginable. Nothing unethical about making a dog do something you don't want it to under the supervision of trained professionals.

This may be the craziest thing to happen to that movie a week before it comes out. We brought four kids to see Trolls awhile back and they played the trailer for this movie, the keys were in unison about not wanting to see a movie about a dog living and dying over again.

I was a little interested. Sad dog movies always get me.

I don't understand how this even happened. Every movie using an animal- any animal- has a rep from the Humane Society to oversee the use of the animals. If the rep didn't intervene, how can there be any uproar over this? Did they miss this scene or approve it?
If they approved it, everyone needs to quit fussing.

The video isn't loading for me, but if this is true, it will prevent me from seeing it.

I'm a huge dog person and was pumped about seeing this, even with the one death scene in the trailer, but if I can find this video and watch it and it's what you guys are describing, then nope. No money for them from me.

Edit: Went to TMZ and saw the video. They handled this really poorly. I'm sure the dog was nervous about the boat engines churning up the water just a few feet from it. That would make me nervous too. And the water was rushing too hard for it to stay above water.
Glad they had someone in the water, but they should have set this scene up differently. I'm now not going to see this movie.

My dog would've jumped in that water and swam circles around those people.

I've been seeing this video pop up on social media, but finally watched it and am shocked that people are "outraged" by it. And I put "outraged" in quotes because nobody is truthfully mad about this...at least I sure as hell hope not.

This is a movie set. The "fast rushing river" is clearly not an actual river and is a movie set. And there appear to be dog handlers and people (who care about the dog's safety) all over the place, including in the water. And the video is edited as well. Finally, literally as soon as the dog goes underwater the director yells to cut it and people jump to the dog's rescue. frick, people love getting worked up over the most inane bullshite.

And to the super badass in here talking about how many people he would shoot for looking at his dog funny (and then go to jail smiling), kudos to you for being my entertainment in this thread, you lying piece of shite.

Do what? Engage the child in a stunt for a movie? Sure. Well, at least kids that weren't pussies because their parents were huge pussies.

Putting your dog in a bath tub or spraying him with a hose is a little different than throwing him into a pool with 8 outboard motors churning the water to simulate whitewater rapids and the dog nearly drowning.

That said the movie is already made and there's nothing we can do about it now. I still want to see it. I won't see it in theater, but I rarely see anything in theater and wasn't planning on it with this one anyway.

That's probably on the DVD behind the scenes extras
