I loved this film. Loved that the Marvel formula was sacrificed a bit to do something different with Raimi’s style. It was a Raimi film as much as it was a Marvel film. This was also a showcase for Elizabeth Olson and she delivered. That Illuminati takedown was incredible but I loved every scene she was in. Marvel will want to bring her back, they can’t lose a young actress of her caliber when so many of their big stars have moved on. Can’t wait to see this one again.

Yeah you said it better than me. This film is more of a Sam raimi film than a marvel film and in my eyes that’s why I liked it so much. Also Olsen in the Scarlett witch outfit is just so fine

I really enjoyed the movie but it felt looooong.
They jumped hard right into the story with Wanda going from Martha Stewart to Worst Case of Post Partum Ever in seconds. I liked that, it could have easily dragged on with her "attempting to help" and I think that would have just been a slog.
I am FAAAAAAAAAAR from an America Chavez fan, but I think the writing for her in the movie was far better than in her own, justifiably short-lived, book. At least they didn't dwell on the lesbo-moms. They also didn't make any sort of Girl Power or Feminism Warriors woke bullshite (and with such a female-heavy cast, they certainly could have).
I hate that they punked out Black Bolt so easily. He's had his vocal powers most of his life, he wouldn't have made a mistake like that. I would have liked to see he and Wanda go toe-to-toe (because he's a veritable powerhouse).
I would have liked to see Namor there as well.
The dead spirits thing was a bit too much for me. "Stephen, use them". Oh, like he couldn't think of that on his own? It felt too much like a Dragonball Z moment (OMG He's reached a new form!!11).
When the movie comes to a home release, I want to watch that first trip of 616 Strange and America through the portal to see what Easter Eggs are there. I could swear I caught a glimpse of the Living Tribunal.
I liked the ending with Wanda finally coming to the realization of what she's done by scaring the shitfrick out of "her" kids (although I think that could have been written and staged a bit cleaner). It's a bit of the old "be careful what you wish for".
All-in-all, a good movie. A little long but definitely worth the ticket price.

A little sobering to see how old Patrick Stewart- and even Rachel McAdams- are starting to look

Started slow, but man, loved a lot of this shite.

Really liked the movie.
I do have one question: is Marvel using multiverse, dimensions, and timeline to all mean the same thing?

This is probably not the film for you. Move along now.

Dr. Strange 1 had alternate dimensions (mirror and dark)
Dr. Strange 2 and Spiderman NWH had the multiverse
tho...they are a little loose with equating timelines and multiverses. But considering there is a version where thor was a frog and Loki was an alligator, I will assume Loki was more about multiverses than timelines even though variants are more about false timelines.

So, in the first post credit scene, was that blonde lady from The Eternals?
Do I need to watch that? I tried twice and fell asleep both times. I’ve heard that it’s terrible.

I found the movie “alright” maybe I expected more out of the multi-verse or for the film to really push towards what the next phase is going to bring but I guess that’ll be what the new Thor will have.
I don’t think America Chavez translates well to the big screen from the comics. I kinda cringe every time her power makes an actual Star to go through.
Watching Wanda wreck the Illuminati was great though especially seeing her kill Captain Carter’s annoying arse. Black Bolt dying was something out of The Boys
The forced “moms” thing was meh but that’s for another thread.
It was kinda confusing towards the end especially with Strange having a 3rd eye now? Visuals were great of course but I was just hoping for more of whatever else is out there in the multiverse.
7/10

Rachel Mcadams looks like the shriveled up lady on beetle juice when Otho summons them and she ages

I legit cheered and everyone gave me the stink eye. She was by far the best part of the film and I want to see more pissed off scarlet witch. Burn it all, you sexy arse witch lady!

Why the downvotes? Honest question.

This movie was awesome. Tons of twists, great character development, fixed one of the things that bugged me about the end of WandaVision, unexpectedly brutal action sequences that felt like they had dramatic weight and real consequences, etc. This is a really really good movie that’s not just fan service (though there’s a fair amount of that too).
The my two moms thing was a cringe eye-roll, and then it was over. Definitely no big deal.

Yeah that was a minor complaint I had as well. Like yes America will be important moving forward because of her powers but I was hoping to see some fracturing of more timelines like in No Way Home. But maybe there was and we just didn’t see it. We already saw from Clea that Strange has already caused an Incursion.
I guess I’m still waiting for that next Event to happen in the MCU. Something that will impact the larger overall story like in Winter Soldier where SHIELD is destroyed. Or in Ragnarok where Asgard is destroyed.

What?
There is almost none for Wanda. Going from Wandavision to this movie is a huge leap. Chavez development is non existent. The story doesn’t do any of the characters favors. But that’s what you get from Raimi (now a days); a “Drag me to Hell” version of Dr. Strange.
Raimi’s scary movie style is fun but that’s it. The film just felt empty.
