Do you pay "retail" for any streaming services?

This is kind of a spinoff of the streaming profits thread.

They need to make money but seem to have devalued their product and conditioned their audience to expect their product to be cheap.

I just canceled DirecTV Stream since sports are over until football. I may resubscribe but probably wont since 90% of viewing was sports and there are other ways to watch what I want.

Max is "free" with my phone plan.

Paramount+ with Walmart+ which is "free" with Amex Platinum

Peacock "free" with Amex Platinum credit

HULU/Disney+/Espn+ "free" with Amex Platinum credit.

Prime video is part of Amazon Prime which we would probably keep anyway.

Practically everyone I know has their services through a "free" deal or just signs up for the Black Friday deals. I only know a few who pay full price for Netflix.

It seems like it will be hard to train people to pay more than they currently are since most have more content available to watch than time to watch it. And that doesn't include the free services like Pluto, Tubi etc.

Curious as to how many pay full price and how price increases will be received.

D+ right now because it auto-renewed.

Previously, it had been at a heavily discounted prepaid rate for several years at launch.

We already cancelled all other streaming services which weren’t bundled with other stuff we use like Prime.

Netflix is the only one. How do you pay less because I’m debating just cancelling it anyway.

I pay annually for HBO when they run an Amex offer to get 50 back on it. I would pay full price for hbo now that they grouped it with the discovery (food/hgtv) stuff.

For streaming services, no. Will probably end p paying full price for Max, but waiting for Prime day next week to see if there are any discounts or longer than 7 days for a free trial. Doing the same with Noggin, but that's because the kids are disinterested in ABCMouse and want to change it up for the rest of the summer.

For Live TV, yes with YTTV

Anxious to see what all the younger generation’s credit reports and resumes look like when they’re older.

Just do things the right way. Life is easier when living honest and paying your dues.

Max.

Max is the one we would probably keep. As of now we are waiting to see what happens after the 6 month 4k grace period for ATT users. Hopefully they let us keep 4k or pay for the upgrade and not have to get a new subscription.

This seems to be widespread. I don't see how they persuade people to pay full price. If they have a must see show people will just subscribe for 1 month and then cancel.

I haven't had Netflix in years. Their strategy has been to protect their "Premium" image, they don't seem to run sales like most other services.

Not really understanding what you are trying to say.

I was mostly talking about how the streaming services have basically trained their customers that their product should be "free" or extremely cheap. They have cheapened their brand and now have to reverse that somehow.

Piracy is a whole different discussion but they have to be mindful and learn the lessons that took the music industry years to learn.

Not sure how credit scores figure in.

Only one we pay full price for is the disney/hulu/espn bundle. Everything else is either included with some other service or comes with our cable/internet plan.

We get Disney, Hulu, ESPN+ through our phone plan.

We are paying for Netflix, Paramount, and Max.

We don't have any TV service (cancelled DirecTV and youtubetv).
And we don't pay the extra for no commercials (paramount/Max).

When college football rolls around, we will probably cancel paramount. Maybe Max too.
FuboTV is $75/mo.

Philo, Netflix, and Prime. We'll pop for something additional on the rare occasion we want to watch something else.

I've tried to cancel Netflix for 3 years.

But my family always finds something new to binge.
The original content is too good for my family for me to even get a 3-6 month hiatus.
My wife is binging Black Mirror and my youngest is watching Suits.

To get max for $5 a month all you have to do is go try to cancel. They will give you the free to stay. I've done this the past couple of times
