re: Do you get the feeling that Adam Driver is a greater actor than the roles he gets?

Logan Lucky is probably his best performance
Was also pretty solid in BlacKlansman

Him and the guy who played Finn are by far the two best actors from Disneys trilogy. Everyone else, except maybe Oscar Issac but I’m not as hot and bothered by him as most seem to be, was pretty bad. It’s obvious in TFA Finn was meant to be a duel protagonist alongside Rey but Disney haters blacks.

If he doesn't get the role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter HBO series I'm going to be irrationally disappointed.

He would be a good Snape. Its going to be a near impossible task for anyone to replace Rickman but he has the look and the chops imo.

He is doing fine for being in a horrible movie in a big roll.

Gladiator? Silence of the Lambs?
+1 On the Murphy in Oppenheimer and Ledger in TDK.
I'd probably add DDL in There Will be Blood (or almost anything he's in), Bardem in No Country for Old Men, Waltz in Inglorious Bastards, maybe Leo in a few roles like The Revenant, Inception, or Django or Phoenix in The Joker.

I dont think the lack of roles thatre seen as great or defining dropping has all that much to do with a drop off in talented actors. It is way more about the way current entertainment is written and how almost everything has to be a soft reboot or a launch of a new cinematic universe.

lets go ahead and add McConaughey for Interstellar or DBC, i'm don't reckon enough people saw dallas buys club to make it defining

he and Pattinson get bad raps for shitty roles, but they are both really great actors

He's one of my favorite SNL hosts from the past decade. He ALWAYS manages to break the whole cast on sketches because he fully memorizes his lines and commits FULLY to the character. His oil baron sketch absolutely kills me every time. He never reads cue cards and has INTENSE eye contact with the other cast members.

Adam Driver is one of the IT actors that I've never understood the appeal of. He's good in certain roles, but his goofy look and voice takes me out of everything he's in.

Will Megalopolis be that great role?

Yeah that Robert Pattison is another one.

I liked him in Silence and wish he had had a bigger role.
