From Matt Belloni at Puck News. How does the board feel about this?

This is a 5 alarm situation... rally the troops, bump the Home Alone Thread...
Early in that thread (probably first 5-10 pages) i had several descriptions for what characters could be up to at this point

ONLY IF Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci are willing to do it

Kevin gets locked out of his house by his own kid and needs the wet bandits to help him break in.

Stern won't be doing it
You might get Pesci

Disney is creatively broke
These frickers are going to run the 90s and 2000s creative into the ground

Pesci is 83. That would be a tough ask. I doubt he is in the same shape as Harrison Ford who looks great in Shrinking in his 80s.

Culkin's pitch for the film had Kevin as a single dad who gets locked out of the house by his estranged son — “The house is a sort of metaphor for our relationship”
No thanks.

Hollywood really can’t let go of nostalgia porn can they

There is no reason to make this. Just leave well enough alone.

Ridiculous! Another flop for Disney. Geeeeez! Why not just re-release the original first movie in theaters and celebrate its greatness.

Working title: Home Alone, Printing Money.

I hope they leave it alone, but this is silly. This movie would not flop

Adult Kevin is released from prison after his Post-Home-Alone paranoia drove him to turn his new home into an escape room of horrors, resulting in the deaths of his wife, and friends and family who made the mistake of throwing him a surprise birthday party.
He returns to his ancestral home and decides to cleanse the McCallister mansion of the new family living there, but is challenged by the young resident who has found Kevin's arsenal of Rube Goldberg death traps and has set them to thwart their creator.

I guarantee Macaulay has been pushing for this for decades. Similar to Mark Hamill, he's been desperate to stay relevant since Home Alone. I can't even imagine how cringe it would be to see him trying to revive this.

That's pretty dark

I feel like it would have more plot holes than the original.
Break in the door… it’s your house.
They should do a home alone where adult Kevin has severe PTSD and kidnaps recently paroled wet bandits and puts them through a saw like labyrinth

I guarantee Macaulay has been pushing for this for decades.
The positive responses to his appearances on Gemstones and the John Candy documentary may have changed his mind.
